Dear
Welcome to CareerGuide.com
We are happy to provide you with correct career guidance

You want to do economics after your 12th. Very nice to hear that. You also worry that you do not study math in the plus two level. You want to know whether math back ground is required to pursue economics studies.

First, I wish to appreciate your courage and vision to select economics as your future career profession. I like great achievers and I think you are one among them. If you think about economics, I am sure that you have it in you, because passion towards economics seldom found.

To answer your basic query. No. It is not necessary to study math in plus two level to study economics as a degree course. Economics needs very basic mathematical skills and further you are going to go deeper into the aspects related to statistics and then further mathematical calculations. The basic economics and statistics teaches you the basic math which is required for the course. So for you, there is nothing to worry. You can aspire to be an econometrician.

With an economic degree or Post Graduation, you can opt for academical career which includes teaching and research responsibilities, Business economists who research, analyze and forecast various aspects of economy and market trends and / or Government economists who accumulate, interpret and analyze various economic data for the purpose of government policy making.

In private sector, Financial Consultant, Financial Planner, investment Banker, Management consultant, Branch manager of a financial organization, Policy analyst, Demographer, Statistician, Stock broker, market specialist etc are other areas where you can have a look into as a economic professional.

But before jumping into any career selection, you should ensure that you have the right skill set to excel in the selected career or profession. You have some pre-designed psychometric tests to find out your skills, aptitude and attitudes, in this site itself. Take those tests and know your skills, attitudes, aptitudes and personality. Then you should know which course you should opt for. Or else we are here to help you selecting the course.

Hope this answers your query.
Wish you a great career.
