The typical day schedule of an editor is somewhat like this, as explained below:

  • Reach the office and check the inbox. This is the first thing they do while reaching the office.
  • The mailbox of an editor is usually flooded with hundreds of mails. They have to reply to the important mails.
  • Also most of the submissions by the reporters and writers are made by the emails these days. Therefore, they have to start reading straight away, else the pile of submissions pending for review starts building.
  • Most part of the day is spent in doing the proofreading and editing the content. It requires great amount of concentration. They figure out the mistakes based on their knowledge and make the necessary corrections if any required.

  • They also attend meetings multiple times a day just to catch up with the team in their activities. They also provide feedback and ask the team members to work on certain areas.
  • They also have to write arcticles, make reports and provide the important information to the chief editors and management.
  • Sometimes they may have to work late in the night or even from the home.

Therefore, the day is very much occupied and is quite challenging one. But also is equally satisfying for those who love to edit and improve the work.
