Agriculture is no longer practiced by rule of thumb;instead it has become highly scientific , sophisticated and mechanized. This discipline of engineering is mainly concerned with solving the engineering problems of providing food and fiber for the people of the world. These problems include designing improved tools to work the soil and harvest the crops as well as developing water supplies for agriculture and systems for irrigating and draining the land where necessary. Research openings are increasing as research organizations gear up to accept the challenge of the export market with the combined support of the government and the corporate sector. Openings for agricultural scientist are there in organizations like the Indian council for agriculture research. Nationalized commercial banks and NABARD also provide class 1 openings to agriculture experts. The state department of agriculture recruits agriculture engineers as Agricultural officers for the development of agriculture in a district. They can also work as agriculture extension officers in district & tehsil public board. With alot of emphasis being given on quality of food the food and drug ministry hire these engineers as food inspectors . The latest technologies are being used to increase and improve the productivity because of which irrigation industries like netafim, jain irrigation etc recruit them as design engineers. Because of hybrid seed industries like mahabeej, nath seeds etc hire these engineers as process engineer.
