Good to see that you are a graduate of Manipal University and are also en-route on a career in accountancy. Manipal University is extremely prestigious in Karnataka and being a graduate from this school will be certainly rewarding for your career. I see from your query that you have completed a Bcom already. To make your career progress further there is only one way that could actually help you and that is studying further related to accounts and your career.

Studying further means you have three routes to pursue.
  1. Master of commerce with accounts: As you have already completed a Bcom as your first bachelors degree, you are highly eligible to study a Master of commerce with accounts degree as your preferred post graduate degree. This will keep you eligible to seek better job options as well as better pay scale. For example, as you are working as an accountant now, completing this degree you can work as a Senior accountant and can also obtain a minimum 30% hike in annual salary. You can choose to study either part time or full time as per your convenience. This is the most preferred route for students with a Bcom degree and studying a MCom is also relatively cheaper compared to most of the other degrees.
  2. MBA with accounts: This is a professional degree and as you have studied a basic bachelors degree and as well have a few years of work experience in hand already, you should be ideally a suitable candidate for studying an MBA. As part of this degree you can specialise in accounts, that is you will get your degree title as MBA with accounts. This is a professional degree and therefore you can expect for a minimum annual pay of more than 5.5 lakh plus also expect to work at either Assistant manager or Manager for accounts level.
  3. Chartered accountancy CA: This is a prestigious role in profession. Students completing a Chartered position will often get roles as Senior auditor, chief auditor and other Senior manager or Director positions in accountancy firms. BIG 4 companies like the Deloitte, PWC, KPMG, E&Y are often in demand for CA professionals. Completing this you can also choose to work in universities as a Professor if you would like.
  4. Accountancy certification popularly known as ACCA certification: Accountancy certification is also equally prestigious to a Chartered position. This is predominant abroad but there are classes for students who prefer to choose to study in India with the abroad tie-up institutions. Therefore you can choose to study ACCA at Institute of cost accountants in India and you can visit their website www.icmai.in They have many certification courses for accounts and are highly recognisable. Completing such degrees you can get at jet rise in your career.
