You can join right after 10+2 or after graduation. Application is done online.

The Army offers 2 types of commission - Permanent and Short - service commission.

The Permanent commission is provided by IMA(Indian Military Academy)- Dehradun.

Short-service commission by OTA(Officers Training Academy)- Chennai.

Entry in Permanent Commission through:

NDA- after 10+2(through upsc)
Direct Entry through UPSC
University Entry Schemes 10+2TES



Entry in Short Service Commission through:

Non-tech (both male & female)
Tech (both male & female)
NCC special entry(both male & female)
Law graduate (both male & female)
