Psychology in layman's term would mean understanding human nature by studying a human in various actions or situations.
How one deals with a situation would never be the same as another person dealing with a similar situation. That is where counselors or psychologists steps in.
Through the use of various test. they come to a diagnostic conclusion and tries to help the client.
Also through the use of therapies, which is nothing but a one to one talk, which is personal and confidential and at the sametime, the client is allowed to be himself, helps the client find solutions to his issues with the help of the therapist make certain amendments required, so that they can deal with similar or other situations in the future.
Psychology or counseling is just not restricted to just human behaviour or solving personal or individual or group issues. These days, counselors are seen working in the industry, whereby they help in selection of the right candidate, addressing grievance issues, as well as into employee satisfaction.
Other than this we see counselors working in the field of vocational guidance, whereby they address students academic needs through the use of an Aptitude test and helps them in selecting a career based on their ability.
Another area we find Psychologists are in the area of special needs, also called as special educators. They are the ones who guide special needs of students right from learning disability to low concentration etc.

Psychology has been a very old and still in demand science for profession as well as jobs.
Full time jobs are available in schools, colleges, hospitals, NGOs, orphanages and teaching. The salaries offered are also good and growing.
You can also be a freelance psychologist and take individual cases and practice independently.
