Hello My Dear CFA Aspirant,

Thinking for another enhancement for your career is an excellent thing you have done and I really appreciate this fact. CFA is a great course and gives ample of challenging opportunities in the financial world.

I am glad that you approached CareerGuide.com at the right time for seeking guidance for your career concern. I am thank ful to you for the same and I am sure that the experts here will be able to guide you appropriately.

PGDM and then CFA:

Actually it was to be the other way round. That is, after CFA doing a PGDM would be good. However, this is not a problem at all.

Since you are already doing PGDM I suppose that by now you must have realised the importance of management skills in the business. I hope you are referring to the CFA course offered by CFA Institute, USA and not CFA offered by ICFAI. I would strongly recommend you to select CFA offered by CFA Institute, USA.

Finance and Business Management together definitely go a long way in the business and finance world. However, I hope you are aware that CFA studies are very hectic, challenging and its passing is very low in percentage. This means that for CFA studies you will require full time dedication and determination and perseverance all together.

It appears that you can afford to study more and your family is also supporting you to study without doing a job? Are you wishing to do a job after your PGDM and alongside join the CFA course? If this is so, I would like to just make you cautious that CFA studies are heavy and require many hours of study. Doing CFA studies and doing a full time job, looks difficult and actually you will have to really need to plan a tight and strict schedule.

I think you may please clarify this. Doing CFA studies full time without a job will be more beneficial according to me.

Salary range for CFAs:

Salaries offered to CFAs passed out from CFA Institute, USA are very high. The starting salary package for a fresh CFA is around Rs. 30,000 - 40,000. However since you are also a PGDM, the salary may marginally be little more than this range. An experience of around 3 years as a CFA, the salary range may be around Rs. 60,000-90,000 depending upon the performance.

All the Best!

Hi, Arun

I guess you are referring to CFP, which is the Certified Financial Planner course. This opens up opportunities in Wealth Management and Private Banking sector.

The starting salary may be in the range of Rs.4 lacs to Rs. 8 lacs p.a., depending on the insititute from where you are pursuing PGDBM.
