M.Tech. is a minimum teaching requirement in any good Engineering college. However there are many private engineering colleges across India which even allows B.Tech. graduates to teach in the class and pay them arounf 12 to 15K.
Also a minimum salary for an M.Tech. Assistant Professor starts from 20K and goes upto 35K depending upon your credentials and knowledge.
Yes, most of the faculty members who are M.Tech., pursue their Phd along with their teaching job only.

If you want to become an Assistant Professor after completing B.Tech or M.Tech then the best option is to clear the CSIR NET Examination.
Those who want to teach in colleges and institute may go for CSIR NET Exam to get a chance to teach as a lecturer (Assistant Professor).
The exam is organised twice a year by NTA and Recently one of these sessions has been completed.
Here you can check the CSIR NET Result key details. Like how many registers for the exam, how much of them qualify for the exam, criteria to declare the qualifying candidates and other key factors.

Well UGC-NET is important if you want to choose your career in academics or you want to be a professor and want to acquire some grants from UGC’s various research-related schemes. So, it’s very much important today as you need NET to be qualified to become a permanent faculty.
I will suggest you should at least give a try to UGC NET Exam as it will help you know how much you know about your own field. Best of luck!!
