Is an MBA a good option after completing a B.Tech in civil engineering? and also what is future scope after completing MBA??
@abcounselling @drkvanand @apurvabpandya Can you please suggest the answer of this question.
Hi There,
Whether you wish to pursue a Management course after Graduating is completely your choice and as far as it being a good option is again completely in your hands. It is how you use the degree to your advantage.
These days it is a trend that every Graduate must pursue an MBA program. Not only a trend, but even companies insists on hiring an MBA graduate. But please note that Management is for those Graduates, who do not have much of a standing with their degree. I mean their degree by itself will not be able to help them get a better prospect.I do not see this issue with you as such. Your degree in Engineering, will help you get better prospects
Also I believe that Managers need to know their job profile well, before they get into managing a team. Thus MBA after few years of work experience is a better option. With few years of experience, one knows their potentials and knows their job well to be able to guide a team. In your case, please note that, once you pursue an MBA, you move from a technical background to a non technical background. But I would advise, that before you move into the non technical aspect, why not get a hang of the technical market first.
Lastly, a degree is just a means for one to get into the job market. The knowledge one gains out of the degree, when used practically defines the scope and use of that degree per-say.
Cutting the long story short, I would firmly advise, get into a technical job, experience the market and their demands and then to get a better prospect if you think MBA is an option, go ahead and study an MBA program.
Hope this helps.
wISH YOU GOOD LUCK...
Dear Aspirant,
I agree as usual with Ms. Meghna.
Doing an MBA by an Engineer right after Engineering may not yield good results in terms of job profile or salary. For an Engineer, an MBA would be beneficial only after some years of work experience.
For Civil Engineer specifically, I would not suggest an MBA to you since the industry you are working in is highly technical. I would instead suggest that you should do a course in Construction Project Management. A Post Graduation is a must today in construction field since the technological advancement is definitely should be learnt.
MBA has specialisation like Finance, HR, Marketing. Here Civil Engineering knowledge and degree is a waste.
I would suggest you to master the domain area of civil engineering by working in the construction industry and after some years do a management course which will help you that time to climb the managerial ladder.
Best wishes
But what if one(civil engg) is not interested in his field and wants to switch from this technical field ( if pursuing job for two years) to something managerial
