Dear friend, the subject geology is a job oriented subject and it has lot of job opportunities in India and abroad. The geology is a subject that is related to the earths internal structures, chemical and physical processes and the materials and biological aspects of the earth.

Let me first tell you job opportunities in India as Geologist. Depending upon the specialization offered in geology there are lot of scopes.
The specialized subjects are: Economic geology, geochemistry, geomorphology, geophysics, hydrogeology, mineralogy, ocenography, palentology, petroleum geology, petrology, and structural geology. Few other specialized subjects in geology also includes; remote sensing, sedimentology, seismology and tectonics. Therefore, the job opportunities will depend upon the scope and demand of the specialized subject.
As a geologist you will find many job opportunities in various companies which deals with earths mineral resources like, ONGC (Oil and natural gas commission), Coal India Limited, Oil India Limited, National Institute of Oceanography, and the private companies like Reliance India Limited. These are important public and private sectors with huge job opportunities in geology field.

After getting entry into a good company, your job responsibilities will include; finding enough supplies of natural resources, develop natural resources in such a way that it does not harm the environment and also understand the pattern of the climate.

These job responsibilities and subject of specialization will let you know the jobs scope in India and abroad.
In India you may also join a university or research institute, here you will be involved in teaching and research. If you have an inclination in academics, then you will have lot of job opportunities in India.
If you wish to earn money then you should target Gulf countries. In Gulf countries the work environment is very cool and technical persons are paid heavily.
In USA and other western hemisphere, the scope of Geologist is always in demand. You will have good opportunities in academic, research and other private companies involved in exploration.
Now there are two things, academic and research jobs are in India, if you wish to earn money then Gulf countries are better. If wish to live a quality of life with decent money then USA and other western countries could be the choice.
