Mechanical engineering touches almost every aspect of our life. It si one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineers research, develop , design , manufacture and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices. They work on power producing such as electric generators, internal combustion engines and steam and gas turbines. They also develop power using machines such as refrigeration and air conditioning equipment , machine tools , material handling systems, elevators and escalators, industrial production equipment and robots used in manufacturing. They also design tools needed by other engineers for their work. The field of nanotechnology which involves the creation of high p;performance materials and components by integrating atoms and molecules to great extent depends upon the principles of mechanical engineering. Every industry and manufacturing facility requires the services of mechanical engineer in production, maintenance , quality control or research and development role. So the work scope of mechanical engineers is equally good in India as well.
