Yes, you can join Army as a BDS Doctor in Army’s Dental Corps. Army recruits every year BDS/MDS Doctors in its Dental Corps and the notification for the same gets published in May/June every year, in Daily National Newspaper and on the official website of the Indian Army, i.e. www.indianarmy.nic.in

The career in Indian Army as an officer would fetch you a kind of satisfaction owing to the benefits in terms of career prospects, salary and perks, career stability and a chance to serve the nation at the national level, etc. The Indian Army has been recognized for its good job opportunities for the youth and you can avail the same entering the Indian Army as an officer. There is a craze actually of becoming an army officer for the status and the facilities you would be offered being an army officer.

There are two modes for entry into Army Dental Corps:-

1) Short Service Commission (SSC)

Selected candidates will undergo the medical test and then they will be incorporated into the service. The Initial tenure for SSC candidates is 5 years which will be extendable by 5 years and further by 4 years according to certain rules.

Entry into ADC – Army Dental Corpse through DPC:

  • The serving SSC Officers get maximum 3 chances to serve for grant of DPC.
  • The serving SSC officers get their first two chances in their first 2 to 4 years of service and the third chance they will get in their 5 to 8 years of service.
