The clear answer is No. There will be huge requirement of the Food Technologists in the next few years. The below points will explain you how there will not be any saturation in this field and the opportunities will only grow:

  1. With time, people are becoming more and more health conscious. Therefore they are paying a lot of attention to the various aspects of the food items that they are consuming. The health and fitness factor has become so crucial in this world and therefore people are willing to spend their money only on those items which are prepared with extreme care by the professionals. That puts a lot of pressure on the producers who have to ensure the quality of the food items so that the consumers can get satisfied. Thus all the food production companies will be hiring more food technologists to ensure that quality.

  2. The purchasing power of the people specially in our country has increased considerably in the last few years and expected to grow in the similar way. Therefore with more money people are more likely to go for those food items which are good for health in spite of their higher costs. Thus that increases the demands of food technology professionals who would take care of the health value of the food production.

  3. The research in the field of the food items, their production and processing is highly mandatory specially with the number of innovations that are coming every day, it is only adding to the competition. Every food production company wants to create new food items so that the customers can relish them and stay loyal to that company. The innovation can only come in this field when the food technologists do great work in their research and provide their valuable contribution. Therefore they need to constantly look for new ways of production and figuring out the best possible options.

Thus the need of the food technologists will only be rising with time and there will be huge demand of this profession in the coming times.

Hello friend,
You have not mentioned your academic qualifications and what you are doing currently. Let me tell you that in coming many many years to come, there will not be any saturation in Food technology jobs, or we can say a big NO to job saturation. Let me tell you about the nature of Food Technologist and Food technology aspects, then you will understand its scope in future.

The Food Technology is the science related to processing of food stuffs. The processing of fruits, sea food, meat, cooked foods, vegetables, juices and beverages and the manufacturing of confectionery, snacks and packaging of these items for marketing purposes.

In India and abroad, the domestic industries has been largely handled by a disorganized sector in the past. however, with increase in investments and restructuring of the processing sector, retailing and setting up of cooperatives as well as the streamlining of the agricultural inputs sector the industry growth has been significant. Food production, procurement, processing, distribution networks and retailing are attracting large integrated players into the field.

With the governments open open market policies the industry has attracted multinational participation. with the consumption of processed food stuffs showing significant growth the industries should offer tremendous opportunities to qualified food technologists and entrepreneurs.

Now you must have got some idea that the scope of food technology will be more in coming years. On the other hand, due to the busy schedule of life, people are more inclining towards the processed and packaged food items. This is due to tow reasons, one. the processed foods guarantee the fortification of nutrients and second, the food is healthy, tasty and unadulterated.

Due to the healthy competition in food manufacturing and processing industries the quality food is available in the market and the ultimate benefit goes to the customer. This competition leads to more and more job available to Food technologist. The living standard to people is much higher compared to the time of our parents. Now people have money to enjoy the food from market. Many national brands such as Haldiram, Bikanerwala, Bombaywala, and Bikano and many more have progressed like anything. They have their outlets all over the country and also proliferating in international market.

Therefore, food technology is and will be a ever growing field.
