If you are sure and Journalism is your passion, your end goal, then dont think twice. Just go ahead and pursue it as a career.
Please note, you can pursue a masters in Journalism or mass media. Eligibility being an entrance exam and a graduate any stream.
Another thing is I do not recommend a profession based on its benefits or advantages. It is your passion which is more important to be successful. If you are passionate, even a disadvantage can be turned into an advantage.
Only benefit I see out of travel journalism, is ones need or desire to travel to various places and study that place in details. If you like it obviously.

There are few vocational and part time courses available in private institutes that you can pursue in order to go ahead with career in travel field. You can start part time job with known travel companies while pursuing the course.
You can start a career in a totally new field. Before finalizing the decision, I would highly recommend you to think about two questions
