Dear aspirant

Mechanical Engineer

Thank you for approaching counsellors at CareerGuide.com. I understand you are eager to study a five year integrated course at JNTU Hyderabad with a BTech and the MBA. There is no doubt on the reputation or the recognition of JNTU Hyderabad, as it has proved excellence in engineering courses. A degree from JNTU Hyderabad is definitely reputable and you can definitely study there. Before that i want to as you why do you want to study two different degrees followed up with consecutive years? You are choosing engineering as well as the MBA and aim to complete it within five years. While it is good to have a basic bachelors degree and then have a management degree, what interests you to do this integrated degree is what i ask now?

An integrated MTech (BTech with MTech) is more advantageous than an integrated BTech with MBA. Once you complete this degree, students often will get confused on what type of work do they need to apply, whether it is into engineering line or a management line. While having an MBA degree is advantageous at some extent of career, but why need to rush and have the degree soon after completing the BTech is questionable. An Mba degree will be more rewarding when you have some years of work experience but doing it along with the BTech might some time put you into dilemma as what you actually want. Instead i would advice you to study BTech at JNTU Hyderabad and go into work at some company and if you wish to do an MBA degree any time in future, then you can also come back to JNTU Hyderabad and study your MBA.

Alternatively if you aspire to go into management line soon after you complete the degree, this integrated degree will help you. However if you later like to only work for engineering companies, the MBA attached degree will not help you in much ways. However if the company wants to promote you to some manager positions, they might consider your MBA at taht time and this time might happen only after 2-3 years when you start work, and they wont give you a manager position soon after you graduate with the integrated BTech and MBA degree because you are completely a fresher in the working world. I hope i made my views clear. Finally, if you want to work for management positions, like being an engineer trainee in engineering companies then this degree will help you. Other wise if you only want to focus on technical side of engineering then doing only a BTech is advisable.
