Hello

Chartered Accountant
Thank you for choosing Mera career guide and writing to us. A career in commerce is definitely great as this course is the backbone of most of the business functions. Let me first advice you on education after 12th and then will advice on further study. Before that you should carefully understand if you want a career in commerce or business. You may take up the psychometric assessment from this website to check on your personality and the suitable careers for it. If the personality test advices you on business side then you can take BBA - Bcahelor of Business administration after 12th. Else you can study Bachelor of commerce BCom after 12th if your personality is not suited to Business.

Students who aim for commerce careers and have aspirations to study further in the same commerce route can definitely take up BCom course after 12th. Only this course will aid you to study ICWAI/ CA in future. If you have no aspirations for studying such courses but are interested in studying MBA in future then it is advisable to take up BBA instead of BCom.

You can follow either of the career paths:
1. BBA --> MBA
2. BCom --> MCom --> ICWAI --> CA
3. BCom --> MCom --> MFM --> MBA Finance
4. BCom --> MCom --> MSc Finance --> MBA Finance

You can definitely take up any of the routes that I have mentioned above.
1. The first route is a genuine management line and you will have no relation towards commerce. If you dont want to study commerce any more then this is the best option for you.

2. The second route is a proper professional career route. After a Bcom, you do a two year masters like the MCom and then go on to study a ICWAI and finally also complete CA Chartered accountancy. Completing CA is the highest achievement in commerce route and most of the students aspire taking this position aiming for professional careers. With this you can be an actuarist or an auditor or a chief accountant for corporates.

3. This route is a mixture of management and finance. After MCom, you can also study Master of financial management course. ANd there are students who lead themselves to an MBA in Finance after this. If you like finance along with commerce then this is the best route.

4. This is the route that offers a mixed concentration of finance and management but the only difference is you can probably study the MSc Finance abroad. Completing the degree you can work for investment banks. And students who have build up a 10 year career end up studying an MBA Finance finally.

Actuaries are also a branch of commerce and it is more linked with accountancy. If you like accountancy then you may also study Actuary or if you like both accounts and fiannce you can study Actuarial finance.
