The journey to an education inmaths starts ater padssing 12th class. After passing 12th , one has an opportunity to ither opt for a BSc degree or an integarted MSc degree or a BS degree or an integarted MS dehree. The two institutes in India offering a Bachelor degree in maths are Indian Statisticalk Institute, Bangalore and the Chennai Mathematical Institute , Chennai. One can also opt for aBS degree in math which is a4 years course. Presrntly, the two best places in India for a BS degrees are the IIT Kanpur and IISc Bangalore. If one is keen to opt for an integrated MS degree than a person can pursue this course from Institute of Sciences , Education and Research Pune, Mohali, Kolkata, Thrivendrum and Bhopal and NISER Bhubaneswar.



Apart from teaching , atrained mathematician is employed in Government Departments engaged in space resaerch ( the Indian Space Research Organization , defense research ( Defence Reserach and development organization) , aeronautical research ( National Aeronautics Ltd or NAL) to solve thie special problems. Today, cryptology is in volgue ( the systems ensuring the saftety of our credit crad transactions are based on some very sophisticated maths). Organizations such as DRDO and the Society for Electronic Trasnactions and Securities hire mathematicians with training in this area. Financial mathematics is another area that leads to well paid jobs. COmputer gians such as IBM and Microsoft have research departments whiich hire people with mathematics background.
