Hi,

Placement is a big issue in the field of psychology. As the course is new and not many people know about it as well. So not many organizations hire Psychologist.

Also a mere Graduation is Psychology will not land you up in a good job. To get a job you at least need to do a Masters in Psychology and only then you can look for a job.
Now a days simply doing Masters is also not sufficient in this field and hence many people then go for an M.Phil or a Diploma in the Guidance and Counselling to get a good job.
Many college also do not offer placements hence the student will have to look for the job on their own. But surely with changing times Psychologists are hired in a lot of areas like Schools, Clinics, Organizations, NGO's, etc.. etc..... It purely depends on your interest and your specialization as in which area you would want to work,
There are many notifications of Jobs in the various job portals from where you can apply for the job.
But it is suggested to first decide in the area you would what to work and then go for a specialization and then finally apply for the job.Having adequate skill set will help you climb the ladder of success easily and soon and also you will encounter less problems in your work.It will also help you to avoid any malpractices and will help you work in perfection.
Getting a good job requires you to have adequate qualification, skills and the right attitude which you will acquire soon as you work in the area.
I suggest you to also keep upgrading your skills even after you get a job so that will help you get good jobs later on as well.
Also start with a job that is of your interest even if it is paying you less as once with a good experience you can always change your job. Also remember that in the field of Psychology your experience is of utmost importance to fetch you a good job.

Best Wishes!

If you study Psychology at degree level in India, you are required to choose a major or an elective subject as part of the degree. This specialization leads you to a career in future. For example, students have options in specializing in clinical psychology, industrial psychology, counselling psychology or educational psychology. Based on the elective you choose you will work in careers associated to that elective.
