  • There is essentially no fixed criteria that you need to fulfill to pursue a diploma in the field of pharmacy. The eligibility might, however, vary from college to college.
  • If you want to pursue a Bachelor’s in the field of pharmacy, you should have studied your 11th-12th with a major as Biology in India. The course is extended over a period of 4 years. You can also apply for this degree course after finishing your diploma instead.
  • In case you want to pursue a Doctorate or a Master’s in the field of pharmacy you need to have some kind of experience in the medical field. The Master’s degree usually extends over a period of 2 years whereas the doctorate can extend over a varied period of time.

The students who wish to pursue their education in the field of pharmacy often have to give a common entrance exam at the state or national level. The GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) is a national level exam that you need to clear before you can get into the field of pharmacy.

Salary prospects and perks in the field of pharmacy

The salary prospects vary from individual to individual. The best part about graduating from a college in a pharmacy course is that you can start your own practice of selling medicine legally. If you are more focused towards the research aspect of the medicine, you can also join a multinational pharmaceutical company as a research associate or a research analyst to conduct clinical drug trials.

The salary of a graduate in the field can vary from 3 lakh per annum to 30 lakh per annum easily.

The pharmaceutical field is one of the most shining fields in the education as well as job sector today. While a lot of students are more focused on the medicine or engineering courses, it is a good idea to go for a pharmacy course to avoid a lot of competition.
