Law has become one of the most renowned professions of all times. Lawyers are people who try and provide justice to the innocent and punish the guilty. They are people with high integrity and honour. They serve the society and earn money out of it. There are some lawyers who just work to provide justice to the needy. These are selfless people who do not even charge fees from their clients.

Getting into a law college is not an easy task either in India or abroad. In India, candidates who wish to graduate from a good law college need to give a Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) exam. This exam is the basic eligibility criteria for admission into various law schools in the country. LSAT is another major exam which is given by students to gain admission in Indian and foreign law colleges. Uttar Pradesh is a state with many law colleges and some of them have been mentioned below:

  • Amity University School, Delhi: This College is affiliated to the GGSIP University, Delhi. It was founded by Dr Ashok K. Chauhan who is a great philanthropist. It had been ranked as India’s best law college in 2015. This was the first law school to have started the five-year integrated law programme. Now, almost every law college in the country has five years law as part of its curriculum.

  • Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya, National Law University, Lukhnow: This University was established in 2005 under the Act of Government of Uttar Pradesh. This University gets liberal grants from the State Governments and provides best facilities and infrastructure to its students. Its aim is to develop a sense of responsibility in its students by helping them to acquire skills in advocacy, judicial matters and legislation.

 

  • Aditya College of Law, Agra (Uttar Pradesh): It is a unit of R.N Gupta Technical Educational Society and is affiliated with Dr B.R Ambedkar University, Agra. Founded in 1992, under the Society Registration Act, 1860, this University aims in imparting knowledge in the field of Engineering & Technology, Medical Science, Dental, Para-Medical Science, Management, Law, Pharmacy, Information Technology, etc. It has a chain of institutes which provide professional education in many states including Haryana, Delhi, etc. It offers various scholarships for the SC/ST/OBC students as its aim is to uplift the society and make it a better place to live in.

 

 

 

 

  • Banaras Hindu University: This University was founded by Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya. The objective of the University is to impart education in various fields of science and art and to build a character in youth which has ethics and religion as part of its education. Its mission was to promote the study of Sanskrit and the Hindu Shastras. This University has an excellent faculty in arts, commerce, law, performing arts, social sciences, visual arts and Sanskrit Vidya Dharma Vijan. It offers a Post-Doctoral degree in law (L.L.D).

  • LLYOD Law College: This College is approved by the Bar Council of India and offers both five-year integrated law and 3-years law course to its students. It was founded in 2013 under the Satilila Charitable Society (SCS). The aim of the University is to produce responsible Indian citizens who have respect for law and also to promote global legal consciousness in the society. Its curriculum includes a lot of global competitions and extra-curricular activities for its students. It imparts comprehensive legal education and advanced studies in all fields of law. The college offers the best infrastructural facilities to its students and produces the greatest advocates and judges.

 

  • IMS Law College Noida: This University aims at producing students who have confidence, zeal and dedication. Here, they are allowed to speak their mind and express their opinions freely. It has a separate anti-ragging committee to protect the students from the malpractices and exploitation. It has globally associated with Management Development Institute of Singapore, ESC Rennes School of Business, France, Deajon University, Korea, Riga Business School, Latvia, Middlesex University, London, etc. The University has gained a lot of awards and achievements and has been accredited as A by many magazines over the years.

  • HLM Law College: This College is affiliated to CCE University, Merut and is approved by the Bar Council of India. The aim of the University is to impart quality education to its students. The vision of the University is to increase the standard of legal studies and become one of the leading law schools in the country. It provides many scholarships to the deserving students.

Therefore, law is a very diverse field which offers a lot of opportunities to its students. A law graduate has many options after his graduation and does not necessarily have to become a lawyer. But entry into all these law schools is a difficult task and one must see to all the pros and cons carefully before selecting the University in which he/ she wants to study.
