Dear Friend

Yes there are certain differences at institutional level between India and abroad means America, Europe and East Asia-Singapore, Japan etc. This is understood the developing country like India is still not at par in terms of affordability in research, science and technology as compare to abroad. Affordibility does signify capability only it includes our own product (man power) those are migrating not being utilized into the system. Due to lack of opportunity and poor salary package pioneers are not joining for the national interest therefore govt system needs to be revised and in fact govt is reviewing the policy so that student like you must be having opportunity in quality education and never look for abroad launching pad. Anyways it was my concern oriented statement and in deed it is soul reason behind the difference of education system in developing and developed countries.

Develop countries offer you excellent course package as per the professional need and contemporary demand in society, that is why the threshold of biological study in abroad is having huge impact on education system. The graduation system in Biology is far far different from India they never confer degree of biology as technology rather they understand biology as sciences. In contrast India confers B.Tech/M.Tech degree in biology and given a tag biotechnology, though I am not criticizing our system, unfortunately our syllabi/curriculla are not being considered for benchmarking outside the country why we need to understand???

Biological study abroad is based on problems encountered by society and given feedback from the different classes of the society, in India we hypothesize the problem then we float our thesis for trial which takes reverse discussion and one can compare the biological program accordingly.

In total India is running behind in terms of biological study program but we can not forget that Bufallo cloning is first time milestone happened in India, many noble laureates from India unfortunately as NRI not from India. Of course several biological institutes are there in comparison with top ranker like National Center for Biological Sciences, Bangalore; ICGEB, New Delhi, CDFD, Hyderabad, IISc Bangalore etc.

You can join these centers and can set example at international repute.

Good luck

Manoj

Dear Aspirant, if you get a degree in Biology from India or outside country. Technically speaking there is no difference between a degree of Indian origian or abroad origin. But practiclly speaking there is lot of difference between the two degree. Another thing, as you have written that a degree in Biology, in India, there is no institute or university which offers a course in Biology. But he Indian universities and institutes offers courses in allied biology subjects like; Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry etc.
The universities in western hemisphere do offer degree in Biology along with its allied subjects like Microbiology and Biotechniology.
as I have said, technically there is no difference between the degrees, but practically a person having a degree from USA, Canada, Europe, Australia definitely preferred over an Indian degree. Though our premier institutes like IIT, central universities and other premier Institutes like NBPGR. But as per the recent list of world top 100 universties, any indian university or institute could not make a place, not even in first 200 world universities.

The reason being is that Indian universities and instititues are not that well equipped and not that well technically qualified man power compared to a western hemisphere universities. The type of research being carried out, the type of teaching and training a person gets in Western universities is practically not available in India.
I have worked for around eight years in Gulf country. There I have seen many times that a person hoding a degree (wheter MSc, doctoral or post doctoral degree) from a developed country like USA, Britain, Canada, Germany or Australia was preferred over a person having a degree from Asian country. The universities (public or private sector) in Gulf Countries or Middle east mostly prefers a person holding wetern degree. The reason being that, the person with a wetern degree is well taught and learned.
In my opinion, if you obtain a degree from any reputed Indian university and you obtain good grades, then you are equally competive to any one. A person can only be called as biologist, after he / she has obtained a doctoral degree in relevant subject. Obtaining a dgree is not a problem, the work done during or after the doctoral degree program is very import. The type of research work you choose, is also very important....
Good Luck...
