Hi,

An Interior designer works with clients and contractors from a variety of fields to transform the interior space of residential, commercial and industrial buildings whether decorating or completely remodeling.
He takes the lead of a team that may include carpenters, Architects, Engineers and Plumbers. He shoulders the ultimate responsibility of creating an interior environment that the client finds beautiful, functional and safe.

First of all it is important to know for me, that where do you want to work after doing the course.
If you do the course from Abroad it will be easy for you to do the job Abroad as well as in India, but if you do the course in India , it will be considered good to work in India not Abroad.

You may have to do the course from their University to get a good job Abroad. Although the syllabus does not differ much, basics are same.

After doing the course from Abroad , you can work in both the places on a good salary. Still i will say that India is emerging slowly and very soon it will be one of the best in Interior designing field.

Its a creative job so it requires hard work + smart work and dedication to work. You need a lot of passion and creativity for stepping into this industry.Need to be proactive with great zeal to research and give your best. Any body having all these qualities can work any where whether abroad or India.

The Bureau of Labor statistics reports that in 2010, about 30% of Interior Designers were self employed.
So the statistics shows that more and more people are moving towards self employment in this field. This is another important thing to be kept in mind for future.

India is moving very fast towards improving the system of education. You can see so many students are coming from abroad to do the course here in India. So you can give it a thought again. There are many other qualities which are actually important apart from the qualification to succeed in this field.

I have answered your question to best of my knowledge, hope you understand what exactly i wanted to make you understand.

ALL THE BEST !!!!!!
