The Textile designing field involves process of making designs for various kinds of fabrics. This is the most important facets of the fashion design industry. It consists of two different designs, one is surface design and the other one is the structural design. The professionals working in this field are called textile designers.Their job includes the visualization of finished textiles and to carry out the technical aspects of further process such as production and properties of fiber, dyes and yarns.

They handle some specific functions in this field like embroidery designs , weaving, color detailing, print and texture. Their work in woven and print fabrics begins with the drawing or sketching of finished designs. Most of them now a days use computer aided design soft ware to create the designs. The various areas in which they can perform are fashion industry , Interior design and textile.

The various courses offered are-

- B.A (Textile Design)
- B.Sc (Textile Design)

Eligibility criteria for Textile Design includes an entrance test by most of the Universities or institutes. To appear in these exams they must pass in the higher secondary exam from any reputed institutions with 50 % marks in any stream.

Entrance examination for admission to these courses are-

- Common entrance examination for design (CEED)
- National council for interior design qualification exam
- National level entrance aptitude test ( NLAT)
- NID entrance test
- NIFT entrance exam
