Hello My Dear Economics Career Aspirant,

Though you have requested Gomathi Madam to answer you, hope you will not mind me answering your question too. I am very happy to see you approach CareerGuide for seeking guidance and advice to your career concern about economics career and I feel very happy since I am myself an Economist and economics has been my favourite subject.

BBE or BA Economics:

As far as my industry knowledge and experience goes, it actually does not matter which type of economics course you do for your graduation. Graduation is just a foundation of any subject and there fore the real thing lies in the post graduation.

If you would like to really become an economist and work in the economics related department in corporate sector like in banks, financial institutions, mutual funds, etc. then I would suggest considering the latest advanced knowledge, for BBE course instead of BA Economics.

BBE course has recently been started by institutes and universities and just to tell you that there is also BSc and MSc in Economics too offered by Symbiosis in Pune. Business Economics syllabus is a new thing in the education sector and BA Economics syllabus has become obsolute and out dated.

BBE may be likely to give you that enhanced focuse and vision towards business environment more than the BA Economic course syllabus.

Post Graduation:

However I would sincerely and seriously like to suggest you NOT to remain complacent by your BBE graduation. I would want you to also further do a post graduation in economics from a preier institute like JNU, Delhi, Gokhale Institute, Pune, Symbiosis Economics School, Pune, Delhi School of Economics.

There are two reason behind suggesting you a post graduation in economics from these institutes:One is that you will get complete domain knowledge of economics by post graduation and secondly you will get better salary package, better companies, better job profiles and better growth opportunities even in abroad.

Today post graduation is a must thing which is required by the industry for seeking good and long term growing jobs.

I hope that you will also give a consideration to my career advice to you and think over on this seriously.

I am sure you will make the right decision.

Please do come back like this, if you have other query or wish to know some thing more.

All the Best!
