Hi, Only Universities are entitled to offer Masters degree in Business administration(MBA). All other institutes and educational bodies including IIM's offer Post graduate diploma in business administration. The two qualifications i.e MBA and PGDBM reflect a marked degree of difference but the fact is that course curriculum and the benefits of the programs are more or less the same.

Both MBA from Pune University or PGDBM (AICTE recognized) are good options. Now will suggest you to opt between the two colleges after doing a small comparative research. You can log on to the college website or connect with the seniors and figure out the placement history of the two, infact many colleges display the yearly placement records in there respective websites. Also do check the faculty details like the experience and academic background. Would suggest that do a bit of comparison between the infrastructure. After gathering the information you can select the one which best suits these parameters .

This is a common question rather a common confusion among students. You need to understand that PGD is offered by Institutes recognised by AICTE but not under any Statutory University. MBA is a masters degree which a University is only authorise to give. Though as per curriculum PGD and MBA may be the same, but their degree status is not the same. MBA is a masters degree but PGD is a post graduate diploma. Therefore, as rightly suggested by Swati, you should do a comparive study. If you want to pursue PhD in future, then a PGD will not be of use but you will need MBA for that. For the industry, however both does not matter much. Industry wants to know whether you are employable or not. Industry does not give jobs just based on the recognition or degree status of your qualification. However I would suggest you to go for a recognised 'MBA' rather than 'PGD'. Best Luck!
