Meteorology involves the study of atmospheric conditions like pressure, wind, humidity and cloud level. They collect data from observations, ships, radar and satellites and use their findings to produce weather forecasts, provides findings for press, television and radio and also for planning purposes. An aspirant keen of making a career in meteorology may opt for an undergraduate course i.e. BSc or B Tech after the completion of class 12th with science stream. A number of universities including IITs are offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in meteorology. A master's programme i.e . MSc or MTech can be done after the bachelor;s degree to improve the job prospects.. Students who are keen to puruse research work can seek admission in PhD programme.
A meteorology degree qualifies an individual to perform many weather related jobs. They can find employment with Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Indian Air Force, Space Application Center, National Remote Sensing Agency , DRDO and Indian Space Research Organization
