Instrumentation is the specialized branch of electrical and electronic engineering , instrument engineers usually have degrees in instrumentation engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering and some times in the newer field of control engineering, control systems engineering.

Instrumentation engineering focuses on the principle and operation of measuring instruments, which are used in design and configuration of maintenance of instruments and entire instrumentation system of an industrial under taking. An instrumentation engineer decides the type of institutes needed for ensuring better quality and efficiency of the end product.

The required qualification for for eligibility for instrumentation engineering is with 10th class and a diploma program marks a candidate a junior engineer. BE / BTech, can pursue MTech program offered by Indian Institutes of technology and few other engineering colleges in the country. Individuals with interests in research areas can pursue Ph.D after his or her post graduation studies studies for carrying out research work.

A good understanding of the field of instrumentation engineering can take you far in life. First of all study the subject know how using various sources like internet, social network and professionals. Along with the above eligibility criteria some personal skills are also required in the students to move in this field. Like sound knowledge in maths, physics and chemistry. Logical reasoning, perseverance and hard work, ability to work in teams, express oneself using figures and words, problem solving skills, grasp things faster creatively, keep calm under work pressures, good in technical drawings and computer skills, excellent communication abilities etc.
