Career counseling is now considered an essential element of the school curriculum and many schools are working hard to create a route of access to career counseling to their students. Career Guide’s team is working hard to provide each and every student of the country with the right career guidance at the right age. This time, our team collaborated with Sanjay Ghodawat International School, Kolhapur. The school is located far away from the hustle and bustle of the cities and provides a motivating and encouraging environment to the students to learn and grow. Even though it is located out of the city, the school is equipped with all the modern facilities and acts as a perfect location to deliver quality education. The school curriculum is designed in a way that it enhances students’ intellect, social, emotional and physical wellbeing, and supports critical thing, social openness, and liberal thinking. The school provides an opportunity to develop their inherent skills while they get to know about global issues. The school follows a strict admission procedure so that classes are fairly populated and teachers are able to give personal attention to each and every student.
Looking for Career Counseling
The principal of the school Mrs.Sasmita Mohanty works laboriously in order to provide students with world class services. Recently, she took an initiative to conduct a three-day counseling session (15-17th December 2016) at the school with the collaboration of Career Guide. The session was aimed at guiding 10th class students about different career options that are available and help them to know the benefits of taking career counseling. Career Guide conducted the event with the support of four career counselors- Mr. Love Chopra, Mr. MDinesh J. More, Ms. Shivani Ambedkar and Mr. Mr. Rohit Mavji Gala. The first day of the counselling started with a motivational talk by Mr. Love Chopra where he highlighted the benefits of taking career counselling. The interactive session was then led by Mr. Dinesh J. More and students participated with much zeal and enthusiasm. Also, students were explained the importance of taking career assessment test which was to be conducted in their specific classes. This session was highly appreciated by the students since they get to know what they can expect from career counseling.
On the second and third day, Career guide team conducted career counseling so that students could be appropriately guided about the right career streams according to their skills and talents. The first step was to conduct Stream Suggestion Test. The test was conducted in respective classes of the students and this was followed by report distribution from the test. Every student got its personalized report according to their skills. This was followed by one to one counseling with all the students. This was the most important section of the event since students get to ask their questions and raise their concerns about particular career options. After the counseling session, career booklets were distributed to know for further information.
The feedback from the students was overwhelming and they were very contented to receive a career counselling session. Most of the students were of the view that having this session cleared their doubts and confusions about different career options and they received a clear idea of what they should opt according to their talents. Some of the students agreed that after the session, they got confidence and now they feel encouraged to pursue their selected career enthusiastically. One of the students Yogesh Kumar stated that from the career counselling, he got to know about his abilities. Another student Amisha said that she found the key to success. Students felt positive after knowing their potential and taking guidance on what stream would be suitable for them.
Overall, the event was successful and not only motivated students, but also encouraged teachers of the schools and our own team to conduct more of such events regularly. The positive response from students was really supportive and we hope all the students that took part in the session become successful and achieve their dreams.
