Whenever a person begins his career, there is often a thought process going on at the corner of his mind. Big salaries do not come that easily, rather one has to be worthy of it. Truly, salary is one of the most significant parameters for any profession, but that should not be the reason behind hurrying up.
Career and salary are two things which are intertwined with each other. There are loads of professions, which are being undertaken by individuals depending on personal choices and priorities. Often prejudices and socio-economic background plays pivotal role. Gone are those days of public jobs where people felt they were most secured. Nowadays corporate houses or private companies give hefty pay packages. Not only those are lucrative, but also assure better environment where job appraisals are also very common. Side by side, corporate job domain guarantees recognition of working ability of a person and thus employability has witnessed very high standard in the private domain.
Often individuals are seen, that they lack the much needed flexibility. For eg, many engineers in India are often seen reluctant to pursue management degrees, although those could have been extremely helpful in the changing scenario. There are ample examples where job aspirants are lazy enough to remain timid and not update their existing skill sets. Thus one can witness, those persons who have got quite a huge gap between theoretical knowledge and practical expertise, struggle much. In most private companies, promotions or elevation or revision in pay packages are concentrated to those who are more to eager to take serious responsibilities. The risk taking attitude and innovation truly have no other substitute in the present job domain.
On a general note it can be said, the best career options can only be pursued or done, when an individual is actually well aware of his strengths or weakness. The market trend is more on specializations and lesser on jack of all trades. Salary packages are more or less representation of company expectations and measurement of return of sales on individuals. Certainly, when a hefty contract is done with an individual, the expectations also rise high and the demand from the individual is also similar. Thus, one should not differentiate a small job or a big job on the basis of salary. A person with a meager salary may end up working much lesser or leading a life of serenity. It also depends on the approach or perspective of the person concerned.
There is no denying the fact that ‘self employed’ is the most fashionable word in this pre context. The beauty of being self employed is, one is his own boss, but that brings added responsibility. There is exactly no place for complacency. Side by side, the idea of self employed calls for the idea of entrepreneurship, which is considered to be an important segment in the present world economy. Although there might be problem of capital in the beginning, but the career of many successful business professionals have shown, if there is will, there is indeed a way out. Thus many individuals often work in some firms, save money and then invest it with much intelligence and knowledge and understanding alongside. All entrepreneurs like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and others have started very slowly and reached the peak in their life after much hard work and struggle. Thus four digit salaries isn’t a distant dream, rather an obvious reality if the concerned person is extremely honest with his ambition.
