There are numerous psychology schools in Europe worth looking into. These can be either undergraduate or graduate institutions, and a number of them are quite prestigious. We’ll look at three that may interest you. Europe has been the birthplace of many influential people in psychology. London University:

King’s College London is a public research university located in the heart of our capital city with a historical pedigree dating back to 1829 when it was established as “London Hospital Medical School.” It has been ranked first among British universities for teaching quality (QS World Rankings) and second globally on employer reputation (Times Higher Education). Currently, three departments are offering undergraduate courses in Psychology; Cognitive Neuroscience & Neuroimaging which comes jointly the top for employability skills amongst UK students according to QS IMES and is the world’s leading department for Cognitive Neuroscience, Clinical Psychology and Psychological Medicine. Graduate study at King’s College London has been ranked first amongst UK universities according to QS TIMES. The University of Amsterdam:

The University of Amsterdam was founded in 1632 and is home to more than 23,000 international students from over 150 countries. This university offers a broad range of undergraduate courses with the option for specialization as well as excellent graduate programs in many fields including psychology, law, medicine and social sciences.

The University of Edinburgh, UK:

It was founded in 1583 and is one of the six ancient universities located in Scotland. The university has a rich history and was also home to some famous names such as Charles Darwin, Lord Kelvin, Joseph Lister, James Clerk Maxwell and Sir George Gilbert Scott. The university has a large number of international students from all around the world. This school offers excellent graduate programs in psychology, including MA and PhD degrees.


KU Leuven, Belgium:

It is a Dutch-speaking university based in Belgium. It was founded as the Catholic University of Louvain and is one of Europe’s oldest universities, with more than 100k students enrolled at the undergraduate level. The school offers excellent programs for psychology undergraduates such as BSc courses which are divided into five majors: cognitive science, experimental psychology, social psychology, clinical and developmental psychopathology.

The University of Oxford:

The University of Oxford is another top psychology school in Europe. This prestigious institution was founded in the year 1167 and is known for its many famous alumni such as Alfred Russel Wallace, Lewis Carroll, Margaret Thatcher and Stephen Hawking. There are a large number of courses to choose from at the undergraduate level: BA Psychology (Psychology with Philosophy), BSc Biological Psychology; MPhil/MSc Neuroscience or Cognitive Science; ClinPsy Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. In addition to full degree programs, this university also offers masters degrees like MA in Experimental Psychopathology and Rehabilitation.
