A veterinarian is a medical doctor who specializes in treating animals. Veterinarians provide care for pets, zoo animals, livestock, and laboratory animals. Veterinary physicians are divided into three categories: those who deal with small animals such as dogs, cats, and cattle, those who work with big agricultural animals such as horses, cows, and goats, and those who work with wild animals such as wolves, lions, and giraffes. The majority of veterinarians work in private hospitals and clinics, labs, or classrooms, although many are required to travel to farms and forests for animal welfare.
