IAS (Indian Administrative Services) is an entrance examination (UPSC) that is organized all over India and several candidates attend this in terms to become an IAS officer. Well, the entrance examination encompasses the holy trinity of 3 pivotal phases from which the interview is one of them. If you are thinking that this interview is going to be like your simple 5 minutes job interview then you are on the wrong path my friend. Because the interview round itself can create a drastic difference of more than 100 marks. And the interview round duration is at least 30 minutes. The main agenda of the IAS interview round is to assess or determine the individuals, competence, presence of mind, psychographics, awareness, and personality.

Interview as a last round for the second toughest paper may appear intimidating and believe me it is. But if you are doing fine then it can also generate unassailable leads. It doesn’t matter that you have achieved top-notch marks in the entrance exam if your interview is a flop then your efforts will go down in the drain.

So, the final list of ranks is created after taking the UPSC marks sum and interview score. It is often witnessed that interviewers’ high scorers top the final selection list too.

Now several candidates face problems while giving an interview, so to resolve their problem we are covering numerous golden techniques for UPSC aspirants to crack an Interview Round with ease. Let’s have a look at some of them.

Prepare For Colleges
  1. Begin Early- Every second counts and time is sluttish because it doesn’t wait for anyone. So, it is better to understand your strengths and flaws than work on it. Don’t waste time by waiting for UPSC Civil Services Main Exam results. Try to begin early and enhance your persona immediately in terms to attain fruitful results.
  2. Be aware of Yourself- If we don’t understand ourselves fully then the big no-no is ahead in an interview from the interrogator. Well, it is the major obstacle which we all face at different phases because we as human beings have diverse skills. Besides, that we are covering the depths of hearts. That is the reason why we lack self-awareness and later it becomes our major downfall. So, to come over such a problem, an individual should introspect and try to find out different layers of your personality. Try to get familiar with your unknown side. If any flaw in your personality doesn’t match the IAS officer eligibility criteria, then work on that flaw and turn it into your strength.
  3. Read Interview Question Samples or Bio-Data Multiple Times- The majority of the times the questions are raised from your bio-data which inculcates your educational qualifications, expertise, objective, and family background. Besides this, your Detailed Application Form is delivered to every board member for analysis purposes. It is extremely decisive to maintain your calm and composition because if you fumble while responding to your personal questions then it might create your bad reputation in front of board members. So, to avoid the void, you must revise and go through your bio-data carefully. Be prepared with questions and to gain more knowledge you can also refer to IAS interview question samples which are available in both online and offline mode. Prepare well for questions from the areas like hobbies, education, service preferences, etc.
  4. Have Optimistic Approach- We human beings are agathokakological which means we have both good and bad elements in ourselves. Because of which we sometimes experience bad thoughts and sometimes good thoughts. And as an aspirant, if we face rejection in an IAS round then it is a heart-breaking moment. But don’t worry we always have another chance to stand again and rise from our ashes like a phoenix. So, don’t be hard on yourself take control, and always hope for the best outcomes.
  5. Never Underestimate UPSC interview- You have to take it seriously otherwise the gate for scoring high in the IAS exam will get closed for you. As a candidate, it is necessary to understand the process and questions. Be respectful and humble towards the board members because your behaviour will reflect your persona. Especially interviewers or board members have vast expertise in this field so, maintain your boundaries and don’t be casual with them.
  6. Develop Your Competence- Everyone is looking for a competent or confident candidate who knows what he or she is doing. If you believe in yourself and know the solutions to your queries then try to express it self-assuredly. But remember don’t go overboard or brag yourself too much in front of board members. Always keep in mind the thin line between confidence and over-confidence.
  7. Don’t Fake it or Lie to Them- Don’t try to lie to them in terms to flatter them because it won’t work in front of them. They are experienced experts who can tell that you are sugar-coating things or you are just lying. Also, don’t add falsified info in your data because not immediately but interrogators will catch you.
