Event management is a process of leading the production and development of small or large-scale personal or corporate events. It is an extremely creative field where the aspirants should have excellent communication skills, people management, handling the logistics and props as well as having enough patience because managing an event means working for and at odd hours to be a competent and successful event manager.

Aspirants can pursue a bachelor’s course or can to for a diploma/degree/certificate course in event management depending on their interest. They must have a valid score in entrance exams such as CAT, MAT etc. for the master’s program.

Graduate (UG) Degree Courses:

  • A minimum of 50% marks must have been achieved by the candidates in their Class 12th to apply for BBA (bachelor’s in business administration) and BA (bachelor’s of arts) courses in event management.
  • Admissions are mostly merit-based depending on the results of Class 12th board examinations. Although, a basic aptitude test or entrance may be necessary for the selection process in some universities or colleges.
Certificate or Diploma Courses:
  • Applicants must have 45% aggregate marks in Class 12th for the Certificate or Diploma in event management.
PG Courses:
  • Candidates can apply for PG Diploma courses after graduation in whichever field with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • National level entrance exams such as CAT, MAT etc. are necessary for admission in PGDM and PGPM programmes.

One must have an MBA degree (Master’s in Business Administration) along with good public relation and communication skills to become an event manager in a reputed and prominent firm.

A fresher can be paid 500-1000 a day. While the professionals are salaried starting from 10,000 reaching to 20,000. Once, enough experience has been accumulated, one can demand fees starting from 45-50,000 to a lakh as per the event and depending on the client as well. Experiences are extremely important in this course as they add weight to your career and after that one can open their PR Consultancy firm and develop press relations.
