The world was calm and living life like every year but the year 2020 had other plans. People in India were somewhere excited for the new year while on the other side of the world another hurdle was waiting for us. The novel Coronavirus knew as Covid 19 was spreading legs. In a short span of time, the situation just changed. The colleges and schools were shut, the movement was restricted and the lockdown was imposed. There was chaos, uncertainty, problems, sorrow, and hurdles everywhere. However, as they say, As much as the night would be dark and fearful, we will come that much to the morning. In all these difficult times, we need to be optimistic and stop stress over. This article presents the various methods by which stress can be reduced.

Regular Exercise

Regular physical activity always benefits us in one or the other way. In the present times of Covid 19, exercising regularly is of utmost importance. It improves not only the blood circulation but also the muscle activity. This pandemic has forced many of us to stay at home so why not make it a healthy quarantine.

This pandemic has even distanced people. When the lockdown was imposed, many people lost their loved ones. The best way to deal with this pandemic effectively is to stay connected with your parents, your relatives, your allergies, your mentors etc. Try to be flexible and creative in using phone calls, emails etc. 

Improve your sense of control

The most important precaution one should take is improving one’s sense of control. Always try to accept situations that cannot be changed. Many people panic a lot. They panic so much that sometimes it deteriorates their health even more. It is very important for the people to try to accept the situation and stay away from negativity. The situations that are today won’t be longer. If today is not good, tomorrow would be a great day.

Sleep Well

It is often said ‘A sound body needs a sound sleep.’ Good sleep is of utmost importance in today’s pandemic life. Sound sleep has many benefits like maintaining a healthy weight, reducing stress, and improving mood. Good sleep even helps to prevent cancer and related diseases. It increases productivity and helps in increasing the concentration power. It helps to make the brain sharper and provides more vitality and power to the body.

Spend Time Outdoors

It is very important to spend time outdoors. Even the doctors suggest that ventilation is very important for keeping the body fit. It is very good for improving vision, brain functioning, increasing levels of concentration, improving physical and mental health, and makes one happier. Spending time outdoors helps much and reduces inflammation as well. It improves levels of concentration and creativity as well.

Meditation helps to improve our health in a lot of ways like control anxiety, helps fight addiction, reduces negative emotions, and helps in gaining a new perspective against stressful situations. Meditation helps to change one’s attitude towards life, achieving a better understanding of oneself and makes one feel rejuvenated. Meditation induces focused attention, manages anxiety, and even reduces inflammation. It is good to practice meditation around 40 – 45 minutes a day.

Relaxing and Enjoying

In this pandemic, people do stress and get frustrated about small things. It is very necessary to relax and enjoy every moment of life. One should never let the negativity ruin the present moment of life. Relaxation plays a very important role in life. One should be optimistic in life. Enjoying and being happy play the role of the biggest remedies. Relaxation helps in lowering the blood pressure, improving heart rate, improving digestion, improving the blood sugar levels and reduces muscle tension as well as chronic pain.

Cultivating Calmness

 Patience and Calmness is an art that needs to be expelled. Calming anxious thoughts and emotions help one to lower stress, increasing compassion, improving levels of concentration, and make one happy, peaceful, and stressed. In order to be calm, one should breathe, listen to music, challenge thoughts, and change one’s focus. One should try to develop mind-body equilibrium as well as freeing oneself from addictions that help one to come out of stressful situations.

Remain Hopeful

One should try to remain optimistic and hopeful in order to cope with the stress of the pandemic. Optimistic minds create great surroundings. Optimism is the only thing that would help us sail through this pandemic effectively.

We don’t know how many years this pandemic would take to go away. Would everything be fine as before? But still, there is an optimistic flame somewhere inside us that ‘This too shall pass.’
