We are living in a growing world. Industrialization, globalization, and civilization are increasing rapidly in the 21st century. But the key aspect of the growth and civic sense is education. Our youth consists of the majority and, thus it is a major need to make everyone aware of the fundamental education. Though the literacy rate is increasing in India still there is a need to know more about sex education. Introducing sex education chapters in the school syllabus ensures a healthy, fit and stable country.
The main issue with sex education is that the word ‘sex’ is over-rated and also under-rated at the same time. It is over-rated because of unawareness of its real meaning, instead, people make fun of the subtle and delicate aspects and under-rated as most of the population even don’t know what it is.

According to UNESCO definition, Sex education is high-quality teaching and learning about a broad variety of topics related to sex and sexuality, exploring values and beliefs about those topics, and, gaining the skills that are needed to navigate relationships and manage one’s sexual health.
Sex education helps to know about sexual health and maintain a healthy environment.
Why is it important?
Sex education is needed to fight sex transmitted diseases like AIDs, HIV. Prevention is better than cure and, thus it is better to prevent the spreading of these severe risks to lives. Unwanted pregnancies can be avoided with proper knowledge and, equipment. This can be achieved by spreading awareness. The more people get to know and participate in awareness campaigns, the better will be the health and progress of the nation.
How to spread Awareness?
- Campaigns are the major lead that spread awareness to a large part of our society.
- Implementing the syllabus in schools for better understanding since the critical age.
- Hoardings, Banners, and promotions help in a better way, as most of the population is exposed to such things.
- Social media and television media channels can provide information about sex education online.
- OTT platforms are very popular these days, so implementing such web series and shows that promote sex education will be so helpful.
- There is a web series named Sex education on Netflix, which is a must-watch to know about it.
