JEE Main Paper 2 is conducted by NTA. This exam is conducted for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning courses in IITs and NITs. JOSAA conducts seven-seat allotments round and two supplementary rounds. It is an online examination that is typically conducted four times every year (February, March, April, and May). The duration of the exam is 3 hours, but extra 60 minutes are given to the candidates attempting both B.Arch and B.Plan.

Age limit

  • General and OBC candidates whose birth date falls on or after 1st October 1994 will be eligible to take JEE Main 2021.
  • However, in the case of the reserved category the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. people under the categories of Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST), as well as Persons with Disabilities (PwD) who are born on or after 1st October 1989, will be eligible.

Number of Attempts

Candidates get 3 attempts for JEE Main exam and 2 attempts for JEE Advanced and in 1 year you get four attempts.

Eligibility For Application

There are no minimum marks required in class XII for appearing for the JEE Main exam. 75 % criteria for admission to NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and SPAs are not mandatory in the year 2021. Candidates who have cleared their Class XII examination or any equivalent qualification examination 2019, 2020, or 2021 will be eligible to apply for JEE Main 2021. The candidates who are appearing in the Class XII exam in 2021 or any equivalent qualifying exam can also apply for JEE Main 2021 exam. Candidates who have passed Class 12th in 2018 or below are not eligible to appear for JEE Main.



  • Candidates must be a Citizen of India.
  • The ones who belong to the category of Non-Residential Indian (NRI) or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) can also apply for JEE Main 2021, providing the category certificates at all stages of JEE Main.
  • For Indian nationals passing the Class XII examination from Nepal/Bhutan, the State Code of eligibility will be determined based on a permanent address in India as given in the passport of the candidate.
  • The State Code of eligibility of OCI/PIO passing Class XII examination in India is at par with Indian nationals. However, OCI/PIO passing the Class XII (or equivalent) examination from an institution abroad are eligible for Other State quota seats or All India quota seats (but NOT for Home State quota seats) in all NITs, IIEST and Other-CFTIs
  • If a candidate has passed the Class XII qualifying examination from one state but appeared for improvement from another state, the candidate’s State Code of Eligibility will be from where the candidate first passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination and NOT the State from where the candidate has appeared for improvement


  • 10% of seats are for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS
  • 27% of seats are for Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL).[Candidates belonging to the creamy layer of OBC are NOT entitled to the reservation, they are treated as open Candidature]
  • 1.5% of seats are for Scheduled Caste (SC).
  • 7.5% of seats are for Scheduled Tribe (ST).
  • 5 % seats for PWD.

JEE Paper 2 Eligibility

Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics must be prepared by the candidates as the compulsory subjects in Class 12th.

There are three sections for B.Arch;  Drawing, Mathematics, and Aptitude. There are a total of 77 questions. Mathematics has 25 questions. Aptitude has 50 questions. The drawing has 2 questions.

There are three sections for B.Plan; Mathematics, Aptitude, and Planning Based Questions. Mathematics has 25 questions. Aptitude has 50 questions and Planning has 25 questions. There are 4 marks for correct answers and -1 negative marking for incorrect answers.

  1. The candidates have the freedom to fill the application form for any session of the exam.
  2. Register yourself as a NEW USER.
  3. Fill the form.
  4. Upload the documents.
  5. Select the exam center.
  6. Pay the fees.

Application Fees

  • Rs 650 (for General and OBC candidates).
  • Rs 325 (for SC, ST, PwD, and candidates).
  • Rs 325(for General and OBC female candidates) .
  • Rs 325(for SC, ST female candidates).

Scanned copy of the candidate’s signature and photo only in jpeg.jpg format and the file size of the photograph should be between 10 KB to 200 KB and Signature should be between 4KB to 30 KB per file.
