7 Preparation tips for UPTET 2020

UPTET (Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) 2020 is going to held on 22 December 2019 this year. Many of you must be busy with the final preparation. Let discuss the examination and some preparation tips for UPTET. UPTET 2020 is conducted by UPBEB – Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board every year to select teachers for the primary and middle-level schools. The basic qualification is graduation with 50% marks and 2 years Teacher Training Diploma (D.ED) to appear for the exam. Here we are going to discuss 7 tips for UPTET 2020 to keep in mind and follow before and during the preparation for the exam.

1- Know the Syllabus and Pattern of the exam

The exam consists of two papers. Paper – 1 is for the teacher-ship of class 1-5 and Paper – 2 is for the teacher-ship of class 6-8. Each paper holds 150 marks which have distributed in five different segments of subjects –

Child development and pedagogy

• Language 1 – Hindi
• Language 2 – English
• Mathematics
• Environmental Study

2- Segment to Prepare

Each segment holds 30 marks separately. Further, you can divide each subject into sub-segments, according to the questions pattern, like Child development and pedagogy has three groups of a question –

• Child development which has around 15 question
• Inclusive Education which has around 5 questions, and
• Pedagogy has around 10 questions.

Likewise, questions asked in the mathematics section include around 10 topics of basic math, and Environmental study includes topics mostly related to GK like History, Current affairs, Geography, etc. This segmentation will provide you the idea that which topic you should give more time to prepare.

3- Mathematics and Pedagogy

Question-related to the Mathematics section was divided into two parts, First part consists of 20-25 questions of general mathematics. This section included the following topics – Number System, Average, Profit and Loss, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Ratio and Proportion, Simple and Compound Interest, and Mensuration. The second part is the Pedagogy of Mathematics which consists of 10-15 questions. Both the topics together make the mathematics section.

4- Language section

As we indicate above two sections of Hindi and the English language. The moto behind this section is to understand the reading and understanding ability for both the language of the candidate. Both the language section has a Reading Comprehension topic of 5-10 marks. They also consist of 10-15 marks questions related to the Basic Grammar of the language. And they also have pedagogy questions of 5-10 marks.

5- Modes of Preparation

4-5 hours of daily preparation is sufficient. Make a schedule and follow it whole heartily. You can do it with the help of any coaching classes or you can do it with books and self notes by yourself. Go with Previous year question papers is always effective. Remember this is an offline Mode exam so the online practice set will not work as effectively. Although you can practice with online e-books and notes but conduct the practice sets, offline. There are lots of books of practice sets for UPTET, You can practice with them but Do it in a proper way that you would get the feeling of the examination hall.

6- Make a plan

As the exam has four sections or subjects, allot your time for each subject according to your daily routine, Keep changing the timetable that you can feel it interesting. Make the aim of preparation for 6-7 months. The first 3-4 months study all the topics in a theoretical way and then start practicing with the mock tests of model papers and the previous year’s question paper. Appear for 2-3 practice set daily and revise those topics in which we’re facing difficulty. Initially divide the syllabus and plan the whole strategy monthly wise then fortnight wise then weekly and then daily. Try to accomplish the syllabus according to the schedule and don’t forget to revise the learned thing so that they will be renewed.

7- Planning for the examination hall

Know the supposed minimum cut-off marks to be quality so that you will get the idea about the questions you should have to attend. You will have only 150 minutes for 150 questions so the competition is going to be high. Solve the easier first. Go for the Environmental Study first because these are one-liner and take lesser time then, do the math but not the lengthy questions. Now turn into the language section and solve the grammar portion first. In the last minutes do reading comprehension and lengthy questions of math. Competition is getting high year by year.
