8 Tips for IBPS Clerk Exams 2020

Institute of banking personnel selection conducts an examination every year to recruit the clerks for all the participating nationalized banks. The examination is conducted in two stages, the first one being the preliminary and the second one being the mains. Only the candidates who clear the preliminary entrance exam get to appear for the mains and the ones who clear the mains examination appear for the interview followed by the document verification. The preliminary entrance exam is to be conducted on 7, 8, 14, and 21 December 2019 and the mains examination is to be held on 19 January 2020. The preliminary exam is a one-hour MCQ type exam the consists of 100 questions carrying 100 marks and a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer. The mains exam is also an MCQ exam containing 190 questions to be completed in 160 minutes. Clear an exam with high hopes can put you under lots of stress. Here are some tips that can help you for IBPS preliminary clerk exam 2020:

1. Start revising thoroughly

There is a lot to study for the examination. You have to pay attention to different topics within a limited period of time. Have a look at a couple of last year’s question papers and analyze them thoroughly. There are so many topics to cover like English, aptitude, reasoning, etc. and you should give time to revise every subject. Before appearing for the IBPS Clerk Exams make sure you revise every important at least twice. Try dividing the time of revising according to the importance of the topic.

2. Give lots of Mock tests

Prepare yourself by attempting and giving lots of mock tests. By doing so you can overcome the nervousness and can also know the pattern of the exam in-depth. Attempting the mock tests can tell you where you stand actually. It can help you to know how much time you need to solve one question.

3. Time Management

You only have 20 minutes to solve each section. You need to align your speed with time. By solving lots of mock tests you can manage time easily. You can know how much time you need to solve a question if running late, you can fix that smoothly. Managing time during an exam is very crucial for an effective and efficient result. You need to plan beforehand how much time you need to invest in one particular section according to your capability.

4. Be updated

Current affairs is a very prominent topic in preliminary as well as the mains examination. So, read the newspaper daily and be updated by the last 4 to 5 months of current affairs. Reading the newspapers, articles and magazines can also help you improve your reading and comprehending skills.

5. Work on your basics

Try to stick to your basics and work on clearing them. Do not directly begin with solving the reference books. Work on your basics and start reading NCERT’s first, then move on to the reference and complex books. Try not to create any confusion in your mind.

6. Be familiar with the exam pattern

Get yourself thorough with the exam pattern of IBPS. Getting a piece of knowledge about the type of questions that will arrive in the entrance exams, the marking system, the latest exam pattern, and the time duration, can help you get an edge over others. Understand the IBPS clerk entrance exam pattern deeply to attain good marks.

7. Do not waste your time

Try not to waste time on any one particular question as it can take up the time of the rest of the questions. When the time is given to read the question paper, try dividing the questions into easy, medium and hard. Start solving the easy questions first as they take up less of your time, followed by the medium ones and then the hard ones. If you are stuck at any one particular question for a long time, try to skip it for the meantime. Once completed with all the answers, and if the time is left then go back to the skipped ones. Do not give more time to a question than allotted. It is important that the questions you answer are correct rather than trying to attempt all the questions.

8. Do not miss anything

Try not to miss anything from the syllabus. Cover each and everything mentioned in the syllabus. Do not skip any topic from the syllabus and understand the syllabus thoroughly. Do not panic, try to stay calm during the exam even if some topics are not covered that well. Be well prepared for the competition as there are so many applications made. There is not much time left so try to make short notes on the important topics and keep looking and revising them whenever you get time. Eat healthily and try not to get sick as you will not be able to focus on your studies.
