Literature has been one of the booming treasures of our country, a country like India. with so many people having their knack for writing and exploring the imaginary world further since times immemorial we have been rich and famous in our golden literary works. This can be indicated by the fact that the first Nobel prize in the literature that India got was for literature and the recipient was Rabindranath Tagore, a Bengali writer, poet, and literary activist. India has thousands of languages, each with a different style, background, history, expression, yet each celebrated to the core.
Therefore India has a diverse flow of different styles of writing, different backgrounds, and different languages but all amalgamated into one gem, literature. PREMCHAND
He stands as the living proof that if you have passion and determination, failure and struggle are not a challenge at all. although the early days of his career as a writer were not easy. It was not an immediate admiration and appreciation he received from people. Asrar-e-Ma’abid was his first short novel about the real ugly side of the temples, this work was not considered a masterpiece by the people, it was rather viewed as an amateur work by many. Premchand in his life also portrayed his strong will and belief, he went against the societal opposition at that time and married a widowed young girl.
He later achieved great heights and finally gained a strong hand at writing more clearly and a correct all the complaints. Nirmala, Prem Ashram, and Rang Bhoomi are some of his best works to date. He started his script work with the scriptwriting of “mazdoor”. He is widely respected, and his works are so valued because at different periods it helped bring a revolution in the society regarding the challenge the society was facing at that point in time. He wrote about challenges like the plight of widows, the social corruption, the misguided faith of the people, and even the national struggle. All his works were filled with realism which was one of the firsts of that time.
AMRITA PRITAM
The voice of women, the booming woman Punjabi poet, considered to be one of the most important voices of Punjab, the woman who has proved that skills and craft knows no boundaries. She is equally popular in both India and Pakistan. She migrated to India after the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947.
One of her best works is Aj Akkhan Waris Shah Nu where she remembered the great poet of love to remind the people how beautiful Punjab was before all the violence. One of her best novel works was pinjar in 1950 which later was made into a film. She was the first recipient of the Punjab rattan award and the first woman to win the Sahitya academy award for sunehadey. She also became the proud recipient of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan and also the Sahitya Akademi fellowship. She also made the country proud when she received the international award of vaptsarov from the republic of Bulgaria.
DHARAMVIR BHARATI
A great social thinker, a person who held his pen to bring a change, he was a poet, author, and journalist. In 1960 he was appointed as the chief editor of the famous weekly magazine dhrmayug by the time’s group. Some of his best works were gunaho ka devta, Suraj ka satwan ghoda, giyara sapno ka desh and so on. He received the Padma Shri for literature in 1972. He was awarded the sangeet natak Akademi award. His Suraj ka satwan Ghoda was made into a movie that won many national awards.
KAMLESHWAR
The prominent writer and scriptwriter of the twentieth century was the editor of Vihan a literary magazine. His famous works were, aandhi, Mausam, chhoti si baat, George pancham ki naak and rang birangi. He got the Sahitya Akademi award for his novel kitne Pakistan. He also received the Padma Bhushan in 2005.
