In the century in which we are living, it is common to have mental health issues, be it a 12-year-old kid to a 40-year-old man. Mental health issues are more in among youngsters and can go undiagnosed and get labeled as hormonal changes or pressure to perform well. So how can you know whether or not you are suffering from a mental health issue? Here are some signs which indicate that a person has mental health issues –

  • Sleeping too much or struggling to sleep.
  • Sometimes eating too little and sometimes overeating.
  • Procrastinating or losing track of time.
  • Becoming antisocial by cutting people from life or ignoring them.
  • Getting no motivation from anything.
  • Having trouble concentrating on anything.
  • Not wanting to communicate with anyone.
  • Spacing out often.
  • Racing and self-critical thoughts.
  • Excessive anger, violent or hostile behavior.
  • Extreme mood swings.
  • Self-destructive thoughts.

Work on Yourself

If you have observed these signs in someone or yourself, you need not worry. Keep in mind that it’s completely normal and do not for even a second think about what others will say. Here we have listed using which you can work on yourself and your mental well-being.

  • Do something which makes you happy and you are passionate about boosting your self-confidence.
  • Talk to people who really care about you. For example- if you have a friend or a close family member talk to them about your problems.
  • Try to engage yourself in new things. Start learning something new maybe a new skill to bring excitement to your life.
  • Watch comedy movies or series which make you laugh because laughing is always the best medicine. And if you love comedy FRIENDS is the best show.
  • Engage in activities that give your mind some peace every day for at least 30 minutes. For example- meditation, cycling, walking, yoga, etc.
  • Try to accept whatever happens in your life and stay optimistic.

  • Sleep for 8 hours every day. Try to sleep early so that you can wake up early.
  •  Leave your room and stay active in your life. Meet your friends and hang out with them.
  •  Stop listening to depressing music and stop watching depressing movies. They will only make you feel worse.
  • Eat good and healthy food. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables especially dark green leafy vegetables. Nuts and seeds are also good for the brain and body.
  • If there is any person in your life who criticizes you, demotivates you, or makes you feel bad. It’s time to cut them from your life.
  •  Learn to love yourself. Stop criticizing yourself for everything bad that happens in your life.

When is the right time to go to a Therapist?

You don’t have to be ashamed of going to a therapist for your mental health issues. Just like when we get hurt for fall sick we go to a doctor,  just like that if we have some mental health issue we should consult a Therapist for the same. If you have made continuous efforts to work on your mental health but still feel you need professional help, it is time you should consult a Therapist. 

You don’t have to be afraid that what if the medicine which the doctor prescribes you might have some side effects or the procedure may be expensive and time-consuming. You have to trust the Therapist as much as you would have trusted a Doctor. Everyone experiences bad phases in life some overcome them early some take time. But if you ignore these issues you may suffer more eventually. So take proper care of your mental wellbeing.
