When somebody gets into law school, the student is very excited. On the face of it, a lawyer’s life seems to be very exciting. A new challenge every day. But it is really stressful. The same stress is for law students.

In law school, while there is a load of studies on the students, the competition with other students, maintaining GPA, etc. also stresses a student a lot. With these there are various other curricular activities like moot courts, debates, ADRs. It creates pressure on the mind of a student as it is important to maintain participation everywhere and maintain a good GPA as well.

Along with this there are various committees and societies in a law school which a student usually wants to join for more company and to be more social. In a committee too there is a lot of work which just adds to the pile.

Then there are mid- sems, end- sems which also need a lot of focus and a huge amount of time for studying.

With these, there are internships as well. The pressure to build a CV and get placement after graduation.

  • It all becomes a race where everybody wants to win and of course, winning is important too. But it all takes a toll on the mental health of the student. There is little time to get any sleep or take time for themselves or even just do some basic exercises to stay fit.
  • But this is all wrong. Students should see that while their career is important but it is not more important than their health, their body. What will they do with the CV, the knowledge, the job when they don’t physically have the potential to do anything?
Tenor

The students should start self-monitoring when the symptoms of stress start affecting them negatively and they should immediately take action and change course. This stress can easily lead to depression. They should do things that they love, go out to social outlets or with friends and family, maybe do group activities to help them with the stress. They should not let the stress overpower them.  They should take part in team sports and physical activities which keeps them active and fit as they sit all day due to studies and other things.

Right Skill = Bright Future

Sometimes, to cope up with the stress, students start substance abuse like smoking, drinking, doing drugs. They should strictly refrain from the same. Its effects are the worst and they harm very strongly and very fast. Once addicted, it becomes almost impossible to stop. It deteriorates the body so much so that its end result is never good.

Addiction
  • Also, students should believe in themselves and their capabilities. Although yes, it is a race but they should believe that they will get everything they deserve and everything they have worked for.
  • Students should work on time management and give time to everything without harming their mental or physical health.
  • Although it’s a stressful journey, if taken the right steps it can be really fruitful.
