SSC exams have almost the same syllabus, the only difference in the pattern of the exams. By following the right books and prepare for the exam with the right strategy, students can easily clear the examination. The best way to start preparing is by knowing the syllabus of the exam you are preparing for. In this competitive scenario, the main task is how to prepare for the exam because this is where students fail rather than from where to prepare.

Reasoning

Those who cleared the exam say that the reasoning asked in the SSC examination is very easy. Kiran’s SSC reasoning chapter-wise solved paper is a book you can consider for preparing for the reasoning part. By solving the book, you can get an idea of how questions are asked in the SSC exam. By regularly practicing for an hour, you can get good marks in reasoning, 45 out of 50 can be easily scored by following the book.

Mathematics

Mathematics has two sections arithmetic and advanced mathematics. Both subjects have equal importance. For arithmetic, the Rakesh Yadav Arithmetic book for SSC has each question with detailed solutions. For preparing this section doing previous year’s questions is not suggested. Students are suggested to read the basic concepts before starting to solve for papers. Online channels or books are good sources to study basics. After going through one section, students should solve questions for the same topic or section. If you have read for ratio and proportion, solve the questions for the same. Because after understanding the concept of topic, there is a chance of forgetting them. Thus after reading the concepts by solving the examples, you can save a lot of time.

For preparing advanced mathematics

There are books option like Rakesh Yadav Advance Maths and Play with Advance Maths by Abhinay Sharma. Students are suggested that they clear the concept of the topic first then solve the questions for the same topic. After solving from the book, one time revise as much time as you can. This method will improve your self-confidence and increase your speed too. For mathematics, don’t go for previous yearbooks instead, practice from mock tests. Or practice four to five years question papers which are also available online.

Preparing for English

For preparing English, students need to go through grammar, vocabulary and reading sections. For grammar, prefer books from Plinth to Paramount or A Mirror of Common Errors. Candidates can download pdf or purchase books. A Mirror of Common Errors is like notes which you can read in the Hindi version too. If your English is weak then, Plinth to Paramount is a good option but, if your English is good, A Mirror of Common Errors will help you in preparing. The competitive exam gives less time to prepare therefore, students are suggested to go through one book several times.
For vocabulary, there are books like One Word Substitution by Roshan, Everyday Vocabulary by Kumkum Gupta, and Idioms and Phrases by Roshan. Students should keep revising these books again and again.
Now for the last part which is the reading section, students can improve it by reading English. Reading newspapers, novels or English storybooks are good options to improve. Learning improves with interest, time, practice, and continuity. In the end, slowly your English will improve. For practice, students can follow Kiran’s SSC English language solved papers and should practice regularly.

Preparing for General Knowledge

Students can prefer books like Lucent’s General knowledge of English or the Hindi version of Arihant’s General Knowledge books. From both the books go for only one book, reading lots of books is not suggested but preparing from the one book. Online apps are also helpful. Practicing from the SSC Adda app or Gradeup app is also a good option. Students can prepare GK from apps quiz questions. If you are reading the Science section, solve quizzes for the same section.

Preparing for Tier-2

In Tier-2 Mathematics and English are almost the same. Students need to prepare according to toughness level and under time constraints because it will come for 200 marks. For preparing Tier-2 (Mains) same books will help you. Observe last year’s papers, revise, and practicing the mock tests. Thus all these processes will get you good marks. The probability of selection depends on the number of times students practice. The only difference between candidates who get selected and students not selected in exams is improving mistakes by revising.

Some Study Tips

  • Students, by giving three hours to Mathematics, three hours to English, one hour to GK, and one hour to reasoning can cover the syllabus.
  • If you are a morning person you can start from English subject.
  • If you are a working person then, try to cover the vocabulary section while traveling.
  • Practice with a timer it will make you comfortable with the exam environment.
  • After solving papers or giving mock tests, analyze your results and improve weak points.
  • Practice daily and try not to skip daily practices.
