Has Bollywood made you believe that people are majorly passionate about the subject of humanities? Well, why not? Humanities is a stream that studies the social and cultural aspects of human society. While the jobs continue to grow, compelling opportunities continue to rise. The following are five fields of humanities and the type of employment you can achieve from them.

History

  • Heritage manager: The job involves managing heritage structures like monuments and memorials at the right budgets. It also looks into safeguarding them and preserved this element of the past.
  • Archivist: It involves maintaining records of historical events. Updating and determining the origin of the documents and keeping a check on their importance.
  • Museum Director: A museum has a group of staff and members to take care of exhibits. The director organizes presentations and events for public viewing. They also look into the exchange of Museum exhibits with other museums.
  • Archaeologist: One’s daily job will be to explore the origins of historical exhibits/ monuments and their relationship with human beings and society.
  • Librarian:  A library has books of all genres. A history undergraduate is appreciated as they can conserve books and keep track of them. They can guide the visitors better.

Geography

  • Cartographer: Daily job Includes surveying and making maps of discovered geographical grounds using science, technology, arts, and aesthetics.
  • Government Employment: Geography undergraduates are in demand for government jobs related to the earth and its atmosphere. 
  • Climatologist: studying the atmosphere is an engrossing job that geography has to offer. Climatologists also analyze planet surfaces and learn weather patterns and their effect on the planet.
  • GIS specialist: They customize, build, and maintain a Geographic information system (GIS) database. At the same time, manipulate data to understand and make maps.
  • Planners: Urban and regional planners survey land and mark the infrastructural needs of the are population.  
  • Meteorologist: they understand the atmospheric condition to predict the weather. Check on the ozone layer, global temperature, and natural calamities that may occur.

Psychology

  • Clinical psychologist: daily job including effectively communicating with people experiencing psychological distress (chronic stress, grief, loss) and help them overcome their suffering. They cater to all ages of people and are specialists for certain groups example: Child psychologists.
  • Health Psychologists: They look into promoting a healthy lifestyle and counsel and conduct health programs for people having unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking, alcoholism, bulimia, anorexia, etc.
  • Industrial psychologist: daily job includes helping people cope up with work stress and increase workspace productivity. Most workspaces have them.  
  • School counselor: children during their school time go through drastic changes. A Job of a school counselor is to help their children understand these changes and hear them out.
  • Social workers: One’s job is to help families, couples, and small groups. They usually lead self-help groups.

Entrepreneurship

  • Business: All kinds of business (small to large) is achievable learning entrepreneurship.
  • Management: Every business organization needs a team that can manage and execute its ideas. New entrepreneurs can apply for this post.
  • Sales: A large part of the company’s profit comes with sales. Hence one must understand the business to get great clients and for the company’s growth.
  • Business consultants: their daily job includes identifying problems of the company and provides them suitable solutions. These problems can be from management, security, accounts, marketing, etc.
  • Recruiter: their job includes shortlisting the names of recruitable candidates. They need to have a good understanding of the company and its business.       

 Fashion studies

  •  Fashion designer: daily job includes designing new designs of fabric. Out of the box ideas, comfort, colors, etc. shall be kept in mind as per the need and demands of the industries.
  • Fashion product manager: the idea put forth by the designer as executed by the product managers. From the type of material to precise colors and design tracing is taken care of by them.
  • Fashion marketing: their job is to look for trends or create trends to place ideas into the market.
  • Fashion buyer: this job involves a great sense of understanding the market system and applying it. As per research and analysis, buy the appropriate which can be launched into the market and can bring in a large profit. 

 In Humanities, these fields have opportunities in abundance. Some of the common jobs include:-

  • journalist
  • civil service officer 

They are all obtained by doing PG or PG Diploma and gaining further experience. Meanwhile considering a Ph.D. will add on to credentials.
