What Is SSC : SSC was established on 4 November 1975, its headquarter is in New Delhi. SSC-CGL, SSC-CHSL, SSC-CPO, SI, and SSC-JE, etc are exams conducted by SSC for recruiting various posts in different government departments. After the UPSC examination, the Central government conducts this exam for group-B and group-C posts. With growing competition among youth, SSC is considered an easy competitive government exam.

SSC-CGL (Staff Selection Commission-Combined Graduate Level)

Students can apply for posts like Inspector, Sub Inspector, Assistant Accounts Officer, Auditor, etc. These posts are in departments like Indian Audit & Accounts Department, Intelligent Bureau, CBEC, National Investigation Agency (NIA), etc.
For applying for this exam, graduation with any subject is the minimum qualification required. Students need to pay Rs 100 when filling the online exam form. Woman candidates and candidates belonging to scheduled tribe and caste, and ex-serviceman are exempted from payment of a fee.

What Is SSC and Who can give SSC exam:-

Students are required to have a minimum qualification of class10th standard from the recognized board to apply for the exam.

What Is SSC Scheme of the examination

The examination is conducted in four tiers. Tier-I and Tier-II are computer-based examinations, Tier-III is a descriptive paper, and Tier-IV is a computer proficiency test or skill test, or document verification. In Tier-I and Tier-II, students need to prepare for the subjects that are general intelligence and reasoning, general awareness, quantitative aptitude, and English comprehension. Each section has 25 numbers of questions and each section is 50 marks. What Is SSC The cut-off is specified by SSC and changes every year. There is a 0.50 negative marking in Tier-I. In Tier-II there is a 0.25 negative marking that is an English paper. There is a 0.50 negative marking in the remaining papers. For some of the posts, there is CPT (Computer Proficiency Test) and physical tests. In the end, there is no interview for candidates.

What Is SSC exam pattern and syllabus

What Is SSC The general intelligence section has questions from both verbal and non-verbal types. Some verbal types are analogies, similarities, and differences, space visualization, decision making, visual memory, relationship concepts, statement conclusion, arithmetic number series, syllogistic reasoning, etc. The sub-topics are semantic analogy, word building, Venn diagram, trends, space visualization, number series, indexing, decoding and classification, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, social intelligence, embedded figures, etc.

  • When preparing for general awareness it is advised to read the last six months’ current affairs. Questions are designed to test knowledge of current events and experiences in their scientific aspect. Questions will be related to India, neighboring countries, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general policy, scientific research, etc.
  • Quantitative aptitude questions come from topics like a whole number, decimals, fractions and relationships between numbers, percentage, ratio and proportion, profit and loss, time and distance, triangle, circle, cone, sphere, trigonometric ratio, height and distance, histogram, bar diagram, pie chart, etc.
  • English comprehension checks the candidate’s ability to understand correct English, basic comprehension, writing ability, etc. Questions level is of 10th standard and some sections are of graduation level.

What Is SSC Main exam

After clearing the pre-exam, students need to appear in the main exam. In the mains exam, there are a total of four papers. Two papers are compulsory for every student and the remaining two are post-specific. The exam has four subjects. First is the quantitative abilities paper which is compulsory for all and has total 100 numbers of questions of 200 marks. Second is an English language and comprehension paper which is also compulsory for all and has 200 questions of 200 marks. If students apply for JSO or statistics-related posts then they have to give a statistics paper. Statistics has a total of 100 questions total of 200 marks. If the candidates are applying for accountant-related posts, then they have to give general studies paper that has 100 questions total of 200 marks. There is a time duration of 2 hours for each paper.

In Tier-II quantitative abilities paper syllabus has questions designed to test the number sense of the candidates. In the main exam, the syllabus is almost the same as that of pre-exam but the level of questions increases. What Is SSC Questions are from ratio and proportion, circle and its chords, congruence, and similarity of a triangle, quadrilaterals, sphere, degree and radian, complementary angles, frequency polygon, pie chart, bar diagram, mixture and allegation, averages, etc. English language and comprehension has questions designed to test the candidates understanding of the English language and will be based on: fill in blanks, synonyms, antonyms, detecting misspelled words, idioms, and phrases, active and passive voices, shuffling of sentences, spot the error, and comprehension passage, etc.

What Is SSC The reason for the increase of aspirants in SSC is the salary offered for the posts has increased after the 7th pay commission. Different posts have different pay scales. Pay starts from Rs. 5000 to 1 lakh on monthly basis. Apart from the basic pay allowance such as travel allowance, house rent allowance, and dearness allowance, etc are also provided to employees depending on the posts.
