Teachers are like our guiding lights. Without them, none of us could’ve got far in our studies and examinations. Teachers are those who care for us like a mother and be strict with us when to have to. It is only with their help that we can score excellent marks in our exams.

Building a good relationship with your teachers is a very underrated aspect when it comes to school. It can greatly impact your school life experience and your class because that teacher is the only one who will help you every step of the way in the subject being taught.

Here are 6  ways you can build a good rapport with your
teacher:

1. ALWAYS PARTICIPATE IN CLASS

A teacher is always pleased when students answer their questions. It shows that you know your syllabus or course material well enough to answer even the toughest questions.

It is important that you participate in class every time a teacher asks a question, whether it is a “Yes” or “No” question or a question that requires a longer answer. If a teacher asks for you specifically, answer confidently. If the question is not directed at a particular person, volunteer to answer if you know what to say.

2. BE CONFIDENT NO MATTER WHAT

Being confident is super important when it comes to building a good relationship with your teacher. If you know the answer to a question, answer confidently with the assurance that you know it well.

If you don’t know an answer or get it wrong, don’t be embarrassed. Mistakes happen and your teacher will understand. Make sure to not make the mistake again so that your teacher know that you learnt from them.

3. ALWAYS STAY UP TO DATE

If there is a change in the course work or syllabus of a particular subject, make sure you make a note of it and inform your teacher if she hasn’t noted it already. By doing this, they will know that you are up to date with everything and can rely on you for anything else she/he might need.

4. LISTEN TO WHAT THEY SAY

Apart from answering questions, it is important that you listen to what your teachers say very carefully. Pay close attention in class to any key points or sources of information you might be go-to for getting more knowledge about a topic, so you are well-prepared for the same.

A teacher might also give some hints about what topics are the key ones which might be tested for exams, so you can pay special attention to them later. They might give some important homework or project work to do, so listen carefully to what they say so that you don’t miss out on any assignments.

5. ASK QUESTIONS

Asking questions is very critical if you want to build a good rapport with your teacher. If you ask questions, they know that you were listening carefully which is why you had a doubt regarding it. A teacher will always respect a student who asks questions, even the silliest ones.

Apart from asking questions, ask teachers for extra study materials where you can study for extra practice. Ask them questions after class so that you don’t interrupt the flow of the lecture and disturb others.

6. BE ENTHUSIASTIC

Teachers always appreciate enthusiastic students. Being enthusiastic and chipper will not only boost your serotonin but will also make your teacher excited for the lecture.

It goes a long way while building a good relationship. Being genuine is also important.  Ask your teachers genuine queries regarding the subject or about their life, so that they know you actually care.
