Here are some tips to be productive, which you can use to set goals, stop wasting your time, and be productive!

Set Goals

To get something in life you have to set goals and know what you want. Not only in professional life but also set goals for your private life. Note down your goals of what you want and refer to them often to stay focused. Break your big goals into smaller tasks so that you can consistently work towards them. For example-  If you want to lose weight? Would you like to start something new in your life? etc.

Be Aware Of Your Time Suckers

Knowing which things waste your time will help you make the most of your available time. We should be doing work that inspires us. Watching how much time you are spending on social media is something you should be aware of. Are you spending too much time scrolling through your social media feeds? If yes, then you should probably be limiting the amount of time you spend there each day. If you are spending more time gossiping and hanging out with friends then you should limit the time.

Establish Priorities

We have a lot of tasks to do and one thing may be more important than the other as some things are needed to be done right now and some can be done later and are not urgent. In that case, categorize your tasks and make a list.

For example-

  • Tasks that are important and urgent need to be done first.
  • Things that are important but not urgent should be done next.
  • Tasks that are not important but urgent are placed in a separate category.
  • Things that are neither important nor urgent care in the final category.

Schedule Your Day

After discovering what your goals are and what is important, start to plan things out. Schedule your day from breakfast to going to bed. Be flexible. See what time suits you for your work, for your new hobby, what time is good for studying and when can you relax. To be productive, think about what works best for you, and don’t be afraid to change things up.

Is It Worth Your Time?

Think about your big goals and ask yourself, is what you are doing going to help you get there or not. For instance- If you are spending an extra hour on something which was not necessary, you could have better spent that time on piano, exercise or playing sports.

Don’t Cheat

To be more productive, go with the schedule and don’t cheat. For example- If you schedule a work session at 8 a.m., stick to it, 15 minutes late won’t work even if you work alone because missing one start will make you more likely to miss others. Stick with the schedule as if it’s set in stone. If you try it and find it difficult to work in that case you can change the schedule.

Do The Hard Stuff First

If you have something hard to do, do it first so you don’t have to worry about it the rest of the day. For example, today you have to complete your math homework and on the other hand, you have to draw a landscape as you are passionate about it or you have a project of work to complete and play a sport. So you should complete the homework first as it seems harder for you than the drawing and do the project work first instead of sports games.

Be In A Proactive State

For making everyday productive you have to switch from a reactive state to a proactive state. If you do not have a plan for the day, you are going to be in a reactive state. Having a plan for the day does not need to be overly complex. All you need is to choose some activities to energize you; activities that you’ll look ahead to doing and could enhance your mood in some manner or another. For example- starting your workday to move forward with the stuck project, spending some time with nature with no online distraction, reading a book, etc. Just doing a few of these activities each day will improve your mood and will give you a sense that you have not wasted your day.
