Dear Querent,

Greetings,

Thank you for sharing your query.

The basic eligibility for becoming a Pilot is 10+2 with physics and mathematics and the minimum marks should be 50%.  The applicant needs to be above 17 years of age.

An entrance examination as well as physical examination is conducted as a primary screening process.

The entrance examination will consists of questions in objective nature from topics of general english, physics, chemistry and reasoning.

The syllabus will be of 12th standard.  The candidates who clear this exam will undergo a screening test called Pilot Aptitude Test, followed which an interview is conducted.

The first step to become a pilot is to acquire a student pilot licence (SPL).  The candidate will now be eligible to get a Private Pilot Licence (PPL).

Both written test and flying hours are considered to grant a licence.

After which the candidate needs to approximately fly another 200 hours to get a commercial pilot licence.(CPL)

Other than this a radio telephone licence and flight radio operators licence also needs to be obtained.

The Indira Gandhi national udan academy is one among the most coveted institutes in India.

Hope this helps

Happy career planning

Good luck
