Dear Mangesh,

You should take up executive MBA only if you have atleast 3-5 yrs of work experience.

While selecting an Executive MBA it is important to look at the following:

  1. Reputation of the Institute which is offering that programme. (IIM A, IIM B, IIM C, ISB, NMIMS, SPJIMR offer some good programmes in India)
  2. Profile mix (ideally it should be a diverse mix of people from finance, marketing, sales and manufacturing backgrounds) of the batch participants since you would be learning alongwith them.
  3. Size of the Batch to allow adequate breadth and at the same time not too large that there is loss of focus and very little teacher student interaction (Ideal batch size could range from 30 - 50)
  4. Focus on the % composition of pedagogy (Class room lectures, live projects, case studies, industry visits, guest faculty lectures)
  5. Full time is definitely preferred over part time since the intensity and focus gets lost in a part time programme
  6. Past Placement track record and strengths in the industry sector you are looking to move into post your executive MBA
  7. Do check with the recent alumni from the schools which you have shortlisted based on the above.

Good Luck & Best Wishes
