Thanks for raising the question at MeraCareer.com.

(1) Will you be able to do PhD in clinical psychology after MA from IGNOU?
(2) Where should you do PhD in clinical psychology?

(1) After Ma from IGNOU, you can do full time as well as part time PhD in clnical psychology . You can appear for NET for lecturership also.

(2) You can pursue PhD from follwoing institute/Universities:
NIMHANS, Bangalore
Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi
IBHAS, New Delhi
Manipal Univrsity
Kolkata University

I request you to get information about thee institutins and eligibity criteria from the websites of above mentioned institutins/universities. There are few other Universities offer PhD in Clnical Psychology. Remember, not all unversities offer PhD in Clinical Psychology. Be careful while searching university that offer PhD in psychology. Most Universities offer PhD in Psychology. Although you may carry research in clinical psychology but PhD degree is offered in Psychology. To become academician (professor) PhD in psychology is suffice.

Your career decision should be guided by your career objectives. Why do you want to pursue psychology?
Career in Clinical Psyhology offers two major scope of work, (1) opportunities to become practicing mental health professional (2) become academicain.

To become clinical psychologist/practicing mental health professional, you need to pursue MPhil in Clinical Psyhology.
You can puruse Mphil after MA. You may appear for entrance test after MA and get into MPhil in following institutions:
NIMHANS, Bangalore
IBHAS, New Delhi
CIP, Ranchi
PGIBAMS, Govt. Medical College, Chandigarh
Kolkata University
Manipal University

You may get the list of institutions/university that offer Mphil in Clinical Psychology from the website of Rehabilitation Council of India.

After MPhil, you get registered with RCI as Clinical Psychologist and can work as clinical psychologists with hospitals. Governement now offers class 1 and 2 positions of clinical psychologist in Government hospitals. You may choose to work in private hospitals or start own private clinic. You can pursue PhD in clinical psychology while at job to get "Dr." title.

To become academician, you need to clear NET. After NET you can get lecturership in any college and University. PhD can help you get promotion as associate professor or professor. PhD help you build career in academics.

Hope this helps. If you have further querries, feel free to write to me. I would be happy to help you.
With Best Regards,
Apurva
