B.com Computer Applications Graduate - IT Field

Hello sir, Currently I am pursuing B.com Computer Applications final year. Till now I don't know what to do in future. But when I thought deeply I got that I am good at computers. From my childhood I was very intrested in learning computers. Currently I have enough knowledge in C Language, MS-Office, Photoshop. Rest of my talents are not related to get a job like Video editing, etc. All I want to ask is, I know that B.com Computer applications field is different from IT field. Most of them suggested me to go for CA, CS, etc and I replied them the same that I want to do an IT job and develop myself in IT field only. By this all of them suggesting me the MCA. But my brother who has completed MCA and working getting low salary and I think may be around Rs.20000. And he himself said that MCA has lost its importance and today there is preference for Engineers, CA, MBA, etc. By this I am thinking that MBA is related to my B.com so that I can do MBA. But my questions is What about my dream? i.e the IT job. If I do MBA and complete it with a good percentage can I still go for IT jobs. Because where ever is see the required qualification is either B.E, B.tech, MCA for IT jobs. I can sacrifice myself and go for MBA, but does MBA has its importance in IT field? My second thought is to do some short term courses like to learn Programming languages, computer courses privately along with my studies. Does these courses help me with the MBA Qualification in future? If so what type of courses are good in getting an IT job. Searching over the net I saw a lot of courses like Programming languages like C, C++, Java, .NET and the Networking Certifications like Cisco, Microsoft, IBM, etc and some other specialized courses like GNIIT, etc which are offered by some institutes. So out of all these what courses should I do along with my studies? From which course should I start my IT career? Can you please tell me the order? For eg: first C, then C++, then Java or .NET etc.... Like this I need a proper guidance. My conclusion is I am intrested in IT field because is have a good knowledge in Computers. But I need the MBA too because I cannot run my life with this short certificates, because everyone need some professional qualification. So I selected the MBA. Talking about the MCA, I have already seen my brother suffering with the job market for MCA Candidates. I thank you in advance because for your patience in reading my story :)

Good questions.

Now the problem here is should you follow your dream or should you go behind market trend as that will help you earn money and it is a must for survival.

My answer is you should go in for both.
What I mean here is, that IT is an ever lasting field, always required in each and every field.

Now when you speak about IT field, it includes more of hardware and its applications and networking. So its a must that you should know all languages and latest technology. Though I cannot rank it as you have asked but all the latest programming and coding technologies are a must for you, to survive in the industry.
As far as doing an MBA is concerned, if its money what you are looking out for then mind you being an MBA an not being able to apply management skills will keep you in the lowest rung and you would just be doing manual work.
So apart from theoretical knowledge you need to be more practical in your approach.
Now you could link your dream and MBA together, since MBA in IT is also available as a course.
Or else you could do a general MBA like say Marketing and then apply directly to an IT company, since you would know the in and out of the IT structure.
This is purely your choice.

As far as MCA and its market demand is concerned, it is but obvious that many graduates now opt for an MCA program and are taken into the industry.

Now here again you first need to clear from a well known recognized university followed by your application knowledge and your uniqueness you could give in the industry.

These days graduates simply stress on just theoretical knowledge but when it comes to troubleshooting they just cant manage to be different from the herd. Another thing missing is up gradation. Every few months technology changes and advance levels are available. So it is a must to get thorough knowledge also about the latest, so enrolling oneself in such new certification courses is a must for survival.

My advice to you would be that it would be great if you could do an MCA or M.Sc IT, after clearing the entrance exams. Post this apply for a job gain hand on experience and try being the best and unique, and at the same time being well equipped with the latest technology. Post this depending on the need to move up the ladder, you could then take up MBA or any other course required.
And if you are the best and company wishes to retain you, they may themselves sponsor you for further studies.

Choose wisely.

Wish you all the very best..........
